Overall

After speaking to one of the staff about what grooming services I wanted for my cat and dog, as suggested I made appointments to bring the animals in to obtain the desired services. As soon as we entered the grooming area, the groomer was unprofessional. Once she found out that we were there to have our cat bathed, she made it clear that she was unhappy about having to do so. She came up with a litany of excuses why she couldn't, from why cats shouldn't be bathed, how she couldn't bathe him if he had fleas (he doesn't), why she couldn't bathe him if he was matted (he isn't), and stated if he was even slightly aggressive she wouldn't touch him (he isn't). I explained why we wanted him bathed despite her objections. She grabbed the cat carrier off the counter and dropped it hard onto the grooming table, unzipped the carrier aggressively, and grabbed at the cat. Of course the cat hissed due to this treatment, and she claimed she couldn't bathe him now because he was too aggressive. I explained it was most likely a response to her actions, and asked that she allow me to take the cat out of the carrier and hand him to her as I had never seen him behave that way. She then again aggressively reached into the carrier and either pinched or poked the cat to cause him pain as he mewed like he'd been injured, and jumped to the other side of the carrier. For someone to purposeful injure a sweet, innocent animal just to get out of doing a job they find distasteful in unconscionable. If this is what she does visably, I wonder what cruelty she imposed on the animals when no one is watching. Petsmart should more carefully screen it's employees.
