4 reviews5.0 star rating 4/7/2017Although I've only owned my new Kia Optima Hybrid for 3 weeks, my experiences with Performance Kia in Everett have, to date, been excellent. A few words on initial headaches, but more importantly, kudos to the dealership, and our salesman, Kamore. I still have a few hiccups that need to be fixed on my new car - so I'll follow with a review after they have completed the repairs, but my initial experience has been great. The hiccups? Minor paint scratches in a couple of places - I expect to schedule with their paint person in the next couple of weeks - and a squeak in the headliner. The first attempt at repair didn't fix the problem - so hopefully they will figure out what the issue is and call me to wrap up the new car fixes and I'll be done with the initial repair visits. Now - the good part - my wife and I have been lifelong Toyota owners, and quite frankly, had planned on purchasing a Prius or equivalent vehicle. We visited several Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Ford and Kia dealerships, looking at Prius, hybrid Camry, hybrid Honda Accord, hybrid Sonata, hybrid Ford Fusion and the hybrid Kia Optima models. After several test drives and dealer visits, we settled on the new 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid for a number of reasons. Although the gas mileage isn't quite as high as a Toyota Prius Prime or equivalent, the Kia Optima is a noticeably larger vehicle. It also gets better gas mileage than the Camry, which is nearly comparable in terms of size. Kia's have recently been getting great reviews at Kelly Blue Book and Consumer Reports among other publications. We also really liked the way the Kia Optima Hybrid drove - better than any of the competitors. The size and interior & trunk (!) space is terrific, and the features of the car are excellent as well. We far preferred the handling of the Kia (fairly tight handling) vs. the Sonata (more "boatlike"), and the trunk space far out-paced the Camry Hybrid or Honda offerings - and I believe the Ford as well. The styling of the Kia Optima is also terrific - many friends have commented that it has a very European - or German - look to it. Beyond the car itself, our experience with Performance Kia has been excellent. Our salesman, Kamore, was terrific to work with. Great personality, and very knowledgeable and helpful in informing us about the car's features. He's a sharp guy, and made the car buying experience fun and relaxing - ...and he bought us dinner too. He should go far - excellent sales skills and just plain clear spoken and knowledgeable. His knowledge of his product exceeded that of any of the salesmen we worked with at all of the other dealerships. In our early experience with the dealership's service department, Karina has been terrific and polite. I give their staff at Performance Kia 5 stars. In my experience - I'd say that the management here has to be good. Clean dealership with very polite staff. They run a good shop, and we're likely to return to them in the future to purchase a Niro as long as they keep up the great work. The hybrid drive of the Kia Optima Hybrid is a bit unique. It uses a double-clutched 6-speed transmission rather than the newer "continuously variable transmission" (CVT) design. I actually prefer this, since the mechanics of a hydraulic transmission are potentially more robust than the mechanics of a CVT - and it also provides a more familiar driving feel. Furthermore, the design of the Kia is to use the 50 hp electric drive motor to start the gas motor when necessary. This process is almost undetectable (occasionally you feel a brief pulse when the gas engine turns on), and, by using the 50 hp motor to start the gas engine, the car does not rely on a standard 12v starting motor. The car also drives a surprising distance on electric only provided conditions are just right - sometimes driving for 3-4 miles on electric only. So far, the car has performed beautifully, and we are really enjoying the car - and our pur

I put my information in the system to get a price quote on a Kia and ever since I have been getting phone calls. In excess of 10 of them! A person should be able to ask for a quote without being BUGGED at work to purchase a vehicle!! Hey Kia, here is a hint for you if the customer doesn't answer after five attempts GIVE UP!!! I would strongly suggest reviewing this practice. It is annoying!!
