Dental Examination
Your initial exam will last approximately thirty minutes to one hour. We will review your medical and dental history and perform a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums. In most cases during this initial consultation, we will be able to provide a diagnosis of your periodontal condition and propose a treatment plan to improve your dental health.

Teeth Cleaning

Crowns
Crown lengthening is a periodontal procedure that reshapes the gum and supporting tissues to expose more of the tooth. This procedure can be used for aesthetic reasons to repair teeth that appear too short (gummy smiles) and uneven gum lines.
Bridges
Adjacent teeth do not have to be altered to support an implant, such as with bridgework. This is significant for your overall oral health by leaving more of your own teeth untouched. With a tooth-supported fixed bridge, the adjacent teeth are ground down to support the fixed bridge.

Periodontal Surgery
In certain cases, periodontal surgery may be recommended to treat periodontal disease when non-surgical treatment is ineffective. We may advise procedures such as pocket reduction, soft tissue grafts or bone regeneration to treat periodontal disease. If a tooth has been lost due to periodontal disease, dental implants are always an option for permanent tooth replacement.
Deep Cleaning
In recent years, certain studies have indicated that irrigation of the gum pocket with antibiotics in combination with scaling and root planing, a non-surgical procedure that involves deep cleaning above and below the gum line, may offer an improved method of combating periodontal disease and shrinking the pockets to maintainable levels.

There are other routes a patient can take to replace missing teeth, including dentures and bridges; however, dental implants are a much better solution for many reasons.
