She attended Baylor College of Medicine and graduated 2003. She completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2006 with Memorial Family Medicine in Houston where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.

Routine issues (medication refills, prior authorizations, lab results) and non-urgent messages are best addressed during the day when staff has access to your medical records. To expedite your appointment, we have enclosed a health questionnaire that will provide us vital information and ask that you bring this completed to your first visit. We also ask that you allow plenty of time to get to the office for your appointment. You may be asked to reschedule your appointment if the below paperwork is not completed. The paper work should be filled out to the best of your knowledge due to a customized plan being made from information provided. Though follow up visits are around 15 minutes, please allow for one hour for your first visit to account for initial evaluation, EKG, and lab work.

Routine well child exams are an important part of your baby’s health. At these visits, we address any problems and perform a complete physical exam. We also assess for developmental milestones, address upcoming advances, and provide important immunizations. These visits are typically scheduled at 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, and 18 months, then yearly starting at age 2.

“Not getting enough sleep for children can lead to decreased attentiveness, hyperactivity, delayed response time, and erratic daytime performance,” says Amie Stringfellow, M.D., internal medicine/pediatrician on the medical staff at Houston Northwest Medical Center. Dr. Stringfellow, who completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric sleep medicine, offers parents the following tips to help head off bedtime troubles.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Some of the most common sleep disorders affecting children are snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and sleepwalking. Children who frequently snore or have sleep disorders are almost twice as likely to suffer from attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) compared to children who sleep well. Research has shown that some children may be misdiagnosed with ADHD when the real problem is a sleep disorder. In many cases, people who have both ADHD and a sleep disorder have shown marked improvement in their ADHD symptoms after the sleep problem is treated.

In order to provide you the best possible medical care for chronic and routine medical conditions, you MUST have your LABS drawn and RADIOLOGY imaging performed 1 week prior to your office visit. Our practice policy is that lab or imaging results will be only be discussed during an office visit. This allows you to ask questions and address any concerns that you may have regarding your care. It also allows us to appropriately adjust your medications and/or other treatments and work towards achieving your optimal health. If you DO NOT have your labs drawn AHEAD of time, you may be asked to RESCHEDULE your appointment.

Your baby’s skin is very sensitive. Until the umbilical cord falls off, you should give sponge baths every other day. After the cord falls off, you may start bathing in warm water. Always check the temperature of the water! Soap is not necessary, but a moisturizing soap such as Dove can be used on dirty areas.
