Fluoride Treatment

Fillings
Although studies indicate that there are no measurable health risks to patients who have silver fillings, we do know that mercury is a toxic material when we are exposed at high, unsafe levels. For instance, we have been warned to limit the consumption of certain types of fish that carry high levels of mercury in them. However, with respect to amalgam fillings, the ADA maintains that when the mercury combines with the other components of the filling, it becomes an inactive substance that is safe.
Veneers
Veneers are thin custom-made, tooth-colored shells that are bonded onto the fronts of teeth to create a beautiful individual smile. They can help restore or camouflage damaged, discolored, poorly shaped, or misaligned teeth. Unlike crowns, veneers require minimal tooth structure to be removed from the surface of the tooth.
Crowns
A crown is a tooth-colored, custom-made covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. Crowns protect and strengthen teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. They are ideal for teeth that have large, fractured or broken fillings and also for those that are badly decayed.
Bridges
Fixed bridges - This type of bridge is generally made of porcelain or composite material and is anchored (cemented) permanently to a natural teeth adjacent to the missing tooth site. The benefit of this type of bridge is that it is fixed (not removable) and it is very sturdy. The disadvantage is that in order to create a fixed appliance, two healthy, natural teeth will have to be crowned (capped) to hold the bridge in place.

Dr. Abe was one of the first in the world to be trained in Periodontal Microsurgery having practiced Micro-periodontal Surgery since 1996. He has pioneered many microsurgical and minimally invasive implant placement techniques that he exclusively uses today. He has presented many lectures on the subject of Microsurgery, Dental Implants and Minimally Invasive Treatment. He was a pioneer in using 3-D computer modeling to place implants since 1993. Being a member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Western Society of Periodontists, and Mid-Peninsula Dental Association allows Dr. Abe to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for our profession. He was selected to give a presentation on his revolutionary "Alveolar Buccal Enhancement" (ABE) procedure at the 100th Anniversary American Academy of Periodontology annual meeting in the "innovations in Periodontics Session" in September 2014. In 2018 He gave a lecture at the American Academy of Periodontololgy annual meeting in Vancover on "Retoratively Driven Ridge Augmentation" and now is a pioneer in completely digitally driven surgical procedures and implant planning and placement.

Dentures - This type of tooth replacement is used when most or all of the natural teeth are missing in one dental arch. Dentures are removable artificial teeth that are made to closely resemble the patients’ original teeth.

A: Dental implants are the closest thing we have to reproducing your natural teeth if you have lost or are going to lose them. They look and feel like your real teeth and you care for them like real teeth. Think of implants as replacing the roots of your teeth. Your dentist will then place a new cap on the implant. We place implants in a way in that only one surgical appointment is needed. Traditional implants require two surgeries. One to place the implant under your gums and one to "uncover" the implant. We only have to perform a simple placement visit. In addition, when the implant is placed, we do not have to open your gums to see the bone like most implant surgeries require. Only a small 4mm hole is made in the gum where the implant is placed. No stiches!.... most patients say they do not feel anything after placement. The reason we can do this is that we use computer guided surgery where a "virtual surgery" is performed on a computer before your surgery.
