- Dr. Richard Steel has been the overseeing physician at Alliance In Health Diabetes Control Center for over five years. He is a fierce proponent of diabetic causes, and he's dedicated his life not only to treating his patients, but to educating them as well. Dr. Steel specializes in the prevention, detection, and control of diabetes. He has a sophisticated, well-established, and successful medical practice in McAllen, Texas. We want our patients to know that Dr. Steel is personally involved in the training of all of the physicians at Alliance in Health Diabetes Control Center, in order to ensure that every patient receives the highest level of care in the industry. Dr. Steel is happily married to his wife of 15 years, and is the owner of a scrappy Bichon Frise named Mr. Hades. He is a Navy veteran of the Gulf War, and the founder and director of our center. Dr. Steel received his medical degree at Mexican-American University of the North. He went on to complete his residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, and attained his certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Steel is a member of the following professional associations: The American College of Physicians | The Texas Medical Association | The American Medical Association He has dedicated his career to diabetes management, primary care, and preventative medicine. Dr. Steel is a firm believer in creating strong partnerships with his patients to improve their quality of life. Provided by Doctor.comI am a new patient to this clinic and I must say, today on my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised. I refer to being surprised because I’m used to having to wait for a minimum of 45 minute periods to be seen at other doctors offices but I was seen in about 5-10 minutes after I checked in. Then, the receptionist was so friendly and professional. Dr. Steel was amazing!
Dr. Steel was very attentive and thorough in gathering my medical history. Professional in his approach but with a caring demeanor. He made sure that I was comfortable and he is a great listener. I'm very pleased that I found such an excellent doctor!

Provided by Doctor.comDr Steel is very cautious in treating, wants to know details before just giving another pill, uses latest methods in dealing with patients. Makes sure patients fully understand why he is being given that treatment or would not be given something just because he requested it. He treats his patients with politeness, correctness, weighs risks a against the benefits of a medication before dispensing it out. Is most concerned in the patient's welfare of what will be the most important of style of treatment and if he can supply that, then Dr Steel suggests the most competent other alternative to supply the results required. Since we have transferred to his office our overall health has very much improved. His office is very organized and seldom if ever is a mistake made by an employee. We applaud the whole team of Dr Steel and his personable crew. We have received calls whenever it is necessary and often when they just want to check up on something to verify before just doing it.
