Teeth Cleaning
Gum disease is infection of tissues surrounding your teeth, and one of the major causes of bone loss if left untreated. Regular dental cleanings and good home care are main factors in preventing gum disease.

Crown fractures. One broken front tooth (shown with a protective sealant) is fractured through all three layers, enamel, dentin and pulp.

Fillings
Dental amalgam is a very strong and durable dental filling material. It is an alloy composed of a mixed powder of approximately 46% to 57% silver, tin, copper and, in some cases, smaller amounts of zinc, palladium or indium bound by approximately 43% to 54% of elemental liquid mercury. Dental amalgam fillings are gray or silver in color and are sometimes referred to as silver fillings or mercury fillings.
Resin Composite
Before and After: tooth colored composite resin may also be used cosmetically as it closely matches natural tooth color and appearance. It is used to fix a chipped front tooth shown in the photos above.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are very durable. Although porcelain veneers are very thin, usually between 0.5 – 0.7 millimeters and inherently brittle, once bonded to healthy tooth structure it becomes very strong. Porcelain veneers can last for many years, usually 10-15 years, if you take good care of them using good oral hygiene and avoiding using them to crack or chew hard objects like ice.
Crowns
A natural dental crown (your original tooth) is made of white enamel on the outside and yellow dentin supporting the enamel beneath it. An artificial dental crown sometimes called a “cap”, replaces missing or damaged natural tooth structure with tooth-colored materials like porcelain and/or metals such as gold.
Bridges
If you are missing a tooth or some teeth between other healthy or restorable teeth that have not yet severely encroached upon the empty space between them you may be a good candidate for a dental bridge.
Dental Bonding
Porcelain veneers resist staining. Unlike other cosmetic dental bonding materials, porcelain is a smooth, impervious ceramic and therefore will not pick up permanent stain from cigarette smoking or from dark or richly colored liquids or spices.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal actually relieves pain, rather than causing it and the best reason to have one is to save your natural tooth. Wouldnâ€™t you rather keep as many natural teeth as possible as you age? With artificial teeth or dentures, you might have to avoid eating certain foods. With natural teeth, you wonâ€™t feel the discomfort of wearing dentures and can enjoy a varied diet.

Gingivectomy and Gingivoplasty
Smile makeovers and cosmetic dentistry are enhanced by gingival recontouring, also called gingivectomy or a “gum lift”. Gingival recontouring involves removal of excess gum tissue covering the front teeth. Excess gum tissue may cause teeth to appear short when they are actually only covered by excess gum tissue. Teeth that once appeared too short can be restored to a more attractive size. Uncovering the teeth can make a dramatic improvement to your smile. Conversely gingival grafting can add gum tissue to cover areas of the tooth which should be covered by gum tissue but have been uncovered by recession, a condition in which the gums pull away from the teeth â€“ exposing the root and making the tooth appear too long.
Deep Cleaning
Scaling and root planning – Removal of bacteria laden plaque and calculus from the tooth and root surfaces in addition to the periodontal pockets. Also, smoothing the root surfaces to make it harder for calculus to adhere to the roots.

Tooth Extractions
Itâ€™s clear they wonâ€™t fully erupt and they are either: (1) moving in the direction of neighboring tooth roots or (2) will never come into contact with an opposing tooth. Wisdom teeth do move within the jawbone as they attempt to erupt. If they move in the direction of adjacent tooth roots and put pressure on them, the roots will resorb. This will permanently damage the adjacent tooth and will require either surgery on the affected roots or tooth extraction. Alternatively, if itâ€™s clear that the wisdom tooth will not come into contact with its opposing tooth, it is functionally useless and the risks of keeping it can often outweigh the benefits of keeping it. Conversely, if your wisdom tooth is impacted and not causing harm in any way, itâ€™s best to leave it in place.
Bone Grafting
Once you lose teeth due to periodontal disease your options to replace them will be limited and expensive (thousands of dollars) because there is not enough bone to support less expensive tooth replacement options. Bone grafting is not possible in all situations. This often leaves dentures as the only viable / affordable alternative.
