Steve's Classic Chevrolet & Ford Parts

I placed my car in Steve's shop for a transmission repair and did not see my car again for 1 year and 2 months. NO REPAIRS WERE DONE. I had to get an attorney, work with my fraud claims investigator of my insurance company and work with the state department of motor vehicles. The stolen vehicle department of OKPD said that if I gave my vehicle to Steve voluntarily that it was not a stolen vehicle even though I could not get a bill or see my vehicle. Steve claimed it took 4 months to repair the first transmission but it would not go back into the car. He had a second transmission that he took 4 more months to repair and he said it would not go back into the vehicle. He then said that the only transmission that would go back into the car was the stock 3 speed which he had. 4 more months went by. He then claimed that the repair would go faster if I agreed to have him replace the rear end in the car. This was two more months. This went on for 1 year and two months. I finally contacted his attorney and demanded a written agreement for what work he intended on completing and a final bill and date. When I went to pick up the vehicle he had no work completed and I gave him $500 just to get the vehicle away from him. Steve claimed the vehicle had been in a wreck in the past and no transmission would fit. None of this was his fault but was all my fault for not letting him work and bothering him.

I then went and bought a new 4 speed transmission, Hurst shifter and a manual and watched a youtube video and replace the transmission myself which took one weekend.

I hope this saves one person this agony. Please check with your car insurance claims department and an attorney before using this shop for repairs. Demand any estimate in writing!!! The cost he quotes is "not much" "won't break the bank" and "boy she is going to drive good when you get it back". DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING NOT IN WRITING!!! I made that mistake.
