She joined Women’s Care in 2009. She is married with two children, and two furry children. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys cooking, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for her son’s sports teams. Kelly loves being a Nurse Practitioner because she is able to use her knowledge and experience to take care of women in all stages of reproductive life.

Endometriosis. The tissue that lines the uterus may begin to grow in other areas of the reproductive system. This condition often times results in ectopic pregnancies.

Pregnancy
If one of the optional screening tests indicate that the baby may be at a higher risk of a birth defect, a diagnostic test may be performed. Women over age 35 are also offered this testing. These tests are more invasive but can help to determine if the baby has a specific problem. These tests are optional and only done if desired by the patient. Your provider and a Perinatologist (high risk pregnancy doctor) will provide the information necessary to assist you in deciding if you want to proceed with the testing.

Cervical Cancer
Urinary Tract Infection
On rare occasions, back pain can be a sign of a urinary tract infection or premature labor. Call the Women’s Care OBGYN office if your temperature is higher than 100.4° F, if you experience burning with urination, have six or more contractions an hour, or notice spotting.

Ultrasound
Please allow extra time for your first prenatal visit. During your initial visit, your provider will go over your past medical and obstetrical history. You will undergo a physical examination and have blood drawn. Prenatal laboratory testing includes a urine pregnancy test, a urine culture, pap smear if it is due, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia testing will be done. Blood work includes determining your blood type, testing for anemia, testing for Hepatitis and syphilis, and evaluating immunity to Rubella. If needed, an Ultrasound will be done.

Endometrial Ablation
Women who have a very heavy flow, or experience periods that last longer than normal may be candidates for endometrial ablation. This procedure removes the endometrium or lining of the uterus. Endometrial ablation: your questions answered.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy. A tiny camera will be inserted into a small incision in the lower abdomen in order for the OBGYN to observe the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. Your physician will also be able to see any scarring or evidence of endometriosis.
