Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
Patients should brush their teeth at least four times each day – after each meal and before going to bed. We will also show you how to floss your teeth with braces, and we may provide a prescription for a special fluoride treatment, if necessary.

Braces
While you are wearing braces, please avoid eating hard foods, sticky foods and foods high in sugar. Hard foods can break or damage the wires and brackets, and sticky foods can get caught between the wires and brackets. Minimize the amount of sugary foods you eat; the sugar can cause tooth decay and other related problems. If you experience an issue while eating one of these foods, contact us for repair appointment or learn more about resolving emergencies at home.

General Dentistry
Dr. Meschke completed his bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of Kansas then went on to graduate from the University of Missouri Dental School. Dr. Meschke practiced General Dentistry for 9 years before realizing that his true passion was in Orthodontics. At this time, he made the decision to return to school to obtain 3 additional years of specialized training and a degree in Orthodontics from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Dr. Meschke has now been practicing orthodontics for over 25 years and specializes in the treatment of children and teens. During his time practicing he has joined several professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Functional Orthodontics, the Kansas Society of Orthodontics and Central Kansas Dental Society. He has also been the President of the Kansas Society of Orthodontists, UMKC Orthodontic Alumni, Central District Dental Society and the Hutchinson Dental Study Club. Dr. Meschke feels there is no greater satisfaction than the opportunity to create a healthy and more pleasing smile that will positively impact a child’s self-esteem for a lifetime.
