Upon leaving Seminole County in 1997, Mark was offered a position in Osceola County’s Public Defender’s Office, where Mark specialized in the defense of domestic violence cases. The cases that Mark was assigned had one of many domestic issues: assault, battery, child abuse, aggravated child abuse, and/or child neglect. Working for the public defender’s office, he was able to obtain invaluable experience in criminal trial practice. While in the domestic violence division, Mark was highly praised for obtaining a Not Guilty verdict in a well-publicized child abuse trial where the State called on several expert witnesses.

Once he graduated from law school in 2002, Scott was offered a position as an Assistant State Attorney in the 9th Judicial Circuit in and for Orange County, Florida. In his first year, Scott was assigned to prosecute misdemeanor, traffic, domestic violence, and DUI offenses. Later, he was promoted to a felony division and spent over two years working with law enforcement to prosecute all types of crime. During his time with the office, Scott worked alongside special investigation detectives and task forces to prosecute his assigned cases.

He moved to Florida after graduation from Syracuse University College of Law in 1994. He was hired by the Public Defender’s Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit in and for Seminole County, Florida. Mark spent over two years in that position as an assistant public defender and was distinguished for the high amount of jury trials in both misdemeanor and felony divisions.
