Nichols Venture Group

The scam artist Douglas Nichols has fled Denver since word about him got around. Mr. Nichols is now in Los Angeles, CA. He is now operating another fraudulent photo/video company under the name Rapids Video Group LLC. He filed for his LLC in February of 2019 with the SOS in CA. Who knows how many people he has already scammed in Los Angeles. If you know any photo or video professionals in that area tell them to stay far far away from Douglas Nichols and his shady ways.

Also just a friendly reminder that Mr. Nichols served time back in 2008 for fraud and is somehow continuing to commit fraud a decade later without any repercussions. Here is his mugshot from 2008

Douglas Nichols and Nichols Venture Group is a total scam. Douglas hires freelance photographers and videographers for events but fails to pay anyone he hires. Myself included, I am still awaiting payment from Douglas for work I did in the end of June and early July of 2017. Beyond myself, I am in contact with and know of at least six other freelancers that were hired by Douglas and have yet to receive payment, some waiting since March. Additionally, NVG was evicted from the property at 3801 E Florida Ave and has no other listed address. The company has also been a sponsor of some events like the Cherry Creek Arts Festival but failed to pay any sponsorship dues on top of failing to pay hired workers. As a warning to anyone that is considering doing business with this company, simply DO NOT and find another production company that is legitimate. Douglas only makes excuses for why payments have not been made and never follows through with his word. In the beginning he will answer calls, texts, and emails like a normal business, but when payment is due he stops replying and becomes very difficult to get in contact with. Furthermore, the BBB issued a warning against Nichols Venture Group in August of 2017.

I was hired to shoot video footage of a polo event for Denver Bentley back in June of 2017. I was contacted the last minute on LinkedIn by Douglas Nichols who offered me $100/hr. I arrived on site and he was nowhere to be found. That is a big problem in my line of work and a huge red flag. He showed up hours later saying he had a headache.

I finished my work and sent it to the editors. Douglas claimed that he would pay me within 5 days but then backed out on that saying his client needs to pay him first. In the end he still hasn't paid me and dozens of other media professionals in the Denver area. His court cases showing eviction at 3801 E Florida Ave are all public record as are the cases filed by individuals like myself. If you are a media professional in Denver or anywhere for that matter, DO NOT WORK FOR THIS MAN, he is a scam artist who likely will never pay you. Stay away from everything related to Douglas Nichols and Nichols Venture Group.

The Nichols Venture group specializes in video production for web marketing. However, the CEO Douglas Nichols has no training or equipment to achieve the video work he promises, so he hires out to freelancers like myself to shoot events and provide post production for advertising purposes.

As a freelancer, these gigs seem legit as I am given VIP access to the events and even have met some of the clients face to face at these events to get direction on what is needed of me. He even has ads for his business all over the events themselves. Which means that these clients are probably paying Douglas Paul Nichols for his services. He on the other hand is not paying his freelancers who he brings on to do the things he cannot. Currently, he is past due on several invoices of mine and several other videographers who I have met on several events I worked on. He has signed contracts with us as independent contractors, this company is currently in breach of those contracts.

It has also come to light that this gentleman, and it is public record (Case #17C51882), has been evicted from this address due to non-payment of rent.

In short, if you choose to hire this man, be aware that he is going to give you what you want, by standing on the shoulders of much better, much more talented men.
