Gastroenterology
Integrative and Holistic Medicine is the healing-oriented and patient-centered practice of medicine which focuses on the whole person (mind, body, spirit), drawing on both the appropriate use of conventional as well as complementary and alternative medicine methods to facilitate the body's innate healing response. Functional Medicine is a specialty of Integrative Medicine, which seeks to identify and address the root causes of disease and illness using a systems-oriented approach. FM incorporates multiple aspects of medicine (traditionally thought of as separate fields of medicine rather than integrated), such as Endocrinology (Hormones), Gastroenterology (GI/Gut-Brain Axis), Immunology (Immune System/Autoimmunity), and Psychiatry/Neurology (Mood Disorders, Neurodegenerative Disorders). Integrative, Holistic and Functional Medicine uses the broader concepts of promotion of health and prevention of illness, as well as the treatment of disease.

Neurology
Dr. Shadid completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from the University of Colorado and received her Medical Degree (MD) from the University of Oklahoma. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Psychiatry, and is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Dr. Shadid completed her year-long Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship and Certification ( CIPP ) with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI). She has completed fellowship training in Integrative Medicine with the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine ( ABIHM ). Dr. Shadid completed an additional certification in Functional Medicine (CFMP), and is one of the few psychiatrists in the United States, that has dual certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine, as well as Functional Medicine.

Stress Management
Dr. Nicole Shadid is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist (MD, ABPN), Board Certified Integrative and Holistic Medicine Physician (ABIHM), as well as a Board Certified Functional Medicine Physician (CFMP, ABAARM, FAAMFM) providing integrative mental healthcare treatment. She is one of the few psychiatrists in the United States that is board certified in Integrative and Holistic Medicine and board certified in Functional Medicine. Dr. Shadid is also fellowship-trained and certified in Integrative Psychiatry as a Certified Integrative Psychiatry Physician (CIPP). She practices Mind-Body Medicine using integrative approaches of conventional medications and psychotherapy with complementary holistic methods to improve psychiatric symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar and attention/cognition disorders. In addition to medication management, Dr. Shadid's integrative modalities of treatment include Psychotherapy, Nutritional Psychiatry, Herbal Medicine, Hormone Management, Functional Medicine, Meditation and Mindfulness Techniques, Exercise or Yoga Therapy, Biofeedback and Neurofeedback, as well as Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques.

In addition to being a board certified Adult Integrative Psychiatrist (MD, ABPN, CIPP), Dr. Shadid is board certified physician in Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM) and board certified in Anti-Aging/Regenerative Medicine, Metabolic Medicine and Functional Medicine (CFMP, ABAARM, FAAMFM). Because of her advanced education and training, she can be quite different in mental health evaluations and medical treatment approaches than other psychiatrists. Dr. Shadid spends more time with her patients, and may see her patients more frequently than other psychiatrists for her medical services. She does not perform conventional abbreviated 15-20 minute medication management appointments (the type of appointments held by the majority of psychiatric providers). Patients who are looking for this type of mental health treatment will be better served with a different psychiatric provider than Dr. Shadid.

Because Dr. Shadid is triple-board certified in Integrative Psychiatry, Integrative & Holistic Medicine, and Functional Medicine, the follow-up appointments may include a variety of consultation focuses for personalized and precision medicine practices, and will depend on the individual patient's needs. Follow-up appointments every 1-3 months are typical in Dr. Shadid's practice. Appointments may be either in-office or via the HIPAA-compliant telepsychiatry service provided (phone appointments not available).
