We bought 50 lbs of jumbo shrimp to eat last November...they were absolutely beautiful and were being sold at a reasonable price. But they looked different and I asked the guy if they were Gulf shrimp. He said they were, just caught way, way out. Well, they are the worst shrimp we have ever bought in over 60 years of buying fresh shrimp in Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. I've never eaten farm shrimp so I don't know what they are like. I know that large Gulf shrimp can sometimes be tough...but these were not only tough but had no taste. I just don't believe they came from the Gulf.

My husband and I stopped by to pick up some shrimp. I wanted deveined shrimp since my arm is broken. I was really disappointed when the shrimp was still in the shell and not deveined completely. If you are going to charge $2.00 extra per pound clean the shrimp !!! I guess that's why all their catch is in coolers. If I had I seen the shrimp I would have said something and not bought it !!!!

Knowledge is Power!

Yesterday I had the chance to stop in at Aunt Margie's Bait Camp and had an intelligent encounter with the owner/operator of the shop. Mr. Jason Reuter is not only incredibly knowledgable on all-things-fishing but he has made it a point that he plans on keeping his shop "family-friendly"; by doing things as simple as not selling cigarettes, keeping gatorade on hand instead of alcohol, and taking time to adorn his place with nice artwork. All of which are inviting to anyone who appreciates Life! When you stop in, I recommend taking a moment to read the special inscriptions he has written on the interior of his shop walls.

Fishing is more than a sport, it's a way of Life!
