At Sage Valley Pet Center, we are very attentive to the feelings and positive state of mind of our furry guests. Our staff consists of mature, caring and experienced people that have a keen love of dogs and cats. Whether they would like a great big hug, another treat, a bit of broth on their dinner or a quieter space, that's exactly what they get. Since 1996, we have been providing pet boarding and grooming services and our clientele (both furry guests and their parents too!) are family here at Sage Valley Pet Center. We have over 25 years of experience sitting and grooming to ensure your pet is taken care of the right way. We have a groomer on staff providing teeth brushing, nail trimming, and brushing.

Overall

If I could give this place no stars, I would. We boarded our fur babies with this facility for several years. At first, they seemed great, but the last few times we noticed things were going downhill. I really, never thought in my wildest dreams that this facility would be so negligent and irresponsible in caring for people's beloved pets. Our last, and final time boarding at this facility was an absolute nightmare, and it is a decision I will regret for the rest of my life. We had two, large beautiful fur babies. One was older, but still had the mindset that she was a puppy, and the sweetest girl you could ever wish to meet. We went on vacation for approximately 8 days, and since this facility had seemed fine, we entrusted them with the care of our fur babies. I received a call on Monday that our oldest dog's legs had "stopped working" sometime over the weekend, but "not to worry, we just used a towel to pick her up to use the bathroom". Um....what? I immediately started calling, my vet, nearby vets, etc., as Sage Valley said they do not have a vet that they use. During the time I spent trying to get her seen I received another call from Sage Valley stating that all 4 legs are not working. Frantic, I kept calling other vets, but no one could get her in. I decided to have her sent to a nearby emergency vet facility. Upon her arrival to that facility, I received a phone call from the doc who checked her at arrival. The information was horrifying. She was covered, from chest to bottom in urine scalds. She had a pressure sore the size of a baseball on her hip. She was infested with maggots. She was unable to support her weight with her legs, and was in distress. We made her as comfortable as possible, and we hopped the soonest flight home. Due to the magnitude and multitude of her injuries, we were left with no choice but humane euthanasia. This is NOT how I brought her to the facility. She was moving and able to get up and down unassisted when I left her there. The owner suspiciously then called the emergency vet facility the day we had to put her down to have my sweet fur babies medical records faxed to her. She then lied to my face over and over that "these things happen" and "she was old" and that "the maggot infestation couldn't possible have happened under her care" and that "we make it a policy to not call owner's over the weekend". Not only did they not care for my sweet baby while she was there, I get the sense that they are also not checking their animals over the weekend. When a dog's legs give out, that is a medical emergency, not throw a bandaid on it because you are too lazy to take care of the problem. So many things went wrong with this place, and I am sad, horrified, angered, disgusted, and sickened with how my sweet fur baby was treated at this facility. Nothing will bring her back to me, however, if I can help others avoid this animal death-trap then at least her death will not be for nothing. If you love your fur baby, I urge you to find a different facility, and research, research, research.

We had our dog Lucky there for 10 days in April. When we picked him up the back of his tail was wrapped in some form of tape because they said he had "happy tail" and he injured it on something. We were told the wrap would come off by itself so we waited a week or so for it to fall off. After trying to unsuccessfully remove the wrap we took him to the vet who told us it looked like his tail had been crushed by a door or something, and the wrap was put on so tight it cut off circulation to his tail and would have to be amputated. Now our dog "lucky" has a 2 inch tail and when we spoke with the owner we were told they would do nothing and then hung up on us. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

They ripped us off

We left our two cats at Sage Valley after seeing online that they charged $10/day/cat. When we arrived they did not make it known to us that the charges were higher. When we went to pickup the cats on January 25th 2011 we were charged $420.00 which was $160.00 more than the advertised price. We had to sign the receipt because we had to get our cat's back at the time we picked them up. We were then told that the price changed and Kitty told us the owner didn't care that the website is wrong. The owner was never there and no one else will do anything about it. We were never refunded our money. The owner said that the guy who checked us in (looked to be late teens) told him that he remembered telling us the rate (more than 14 days after we had checked in). They don't have you sign anything verifying a rate.



The owner cares more about the $160 he scammed us out of than customer satisfaction. Don't leave your pet here unless your lawyer has time to go with you for the drop off and pickup.
