Carondelet Manor

This place is horrible! Please do not take your loved ones there. We had my grandmother there for less than a month, and took her out. Fortunately, my aunt stopped by to check on her daily. Each day she found something new. She was neglected, they left her in urine soaked clothes, her teeth were unbrushed, she was left alone in a dining room and her clothes disappeared & she had someone else's clothes on one morning. We are now worried that she even got her meds. They are very short staffed & can't keep people. There's always a reason. Then, the administrators were non responsive. It took another family member 2 weeks to get a call from one of the administrators, Jackie, who handles Medicaid applications. When she finally reached her we found out why she avoided her. She had not submitted the Medicaid application as promised after about a month - after kneeling between them in person and telling them eye face to face - and in writing in an email, we still have it with her name & specific message that she would submit and track the application herself - personally! Plus, another staff member promising the same thing. They mislead us. We believe that Jackie was trying to keep us paying the private pay rate out of our pockets of $199/day -$6000 vs Medicaid's $2,200 while we anxiously awaited Medicaid approval. She was slow walking & slowing down the process to collect more money from us. Jackie told her that the application was still on her desk unsubmitted! She lied & had a nasty attitude on top of that. She knew that we couldn't afford the private pay rate & were straining financially to pay it. She even asked Jackie to see if she could rush the process through. She promised that she would. Then avoided my family member's phone calls and emails to call her for 2 weeks straight almost daily - in addition to multiple email requests - on purpose! When they finally talked, she was very sarcastic, nasty and had a horribly bad attitude. Why would she be mad at us?!? Please don't trust this place. The care AND administration are poor - without an acknowledgment on their end to correct it. This is business as usual for them, unfortunately. So sad. Do your research & also check (state?) records. They had a federal fine in late 2015 for neglect & were fined $60,000. We will see if there is a way to file a complaint against them to earn others. Stay away please!

The Doctor suggested we took our Mother here for rehab. She fractured her back. Spent 3 weeks there. She was a changed woman for the worse. Brian told us she walked the bar and when we picked her up to leave she couldn't even stand up in her wheelchair. We came to visit her 4 days in a row and everyday she had the same clothes on. We had to complain about it to get anything done. We notice the last 2 days she had the same clothes on. They over medicated her. Since she has left Carondelet Manor rehad we now have to spend more time putting her back together. It was all about the medcaid money. They suggested to us to keep her there until the plateau was up. We will never bring her back to Carondelet Manor again. Her doctor sucks.
