Heartland Nursery

when we first started visiting the heartland nursery years ago they had orchids. named varieties. phals.. phrags.. ladies slippers..etc.. they even had a wonderful collection off different staghorns.. and many other unusual and hard to find tropicals..they were not cheap.. verry expensive. but it was worth it to get the rare i wanted.. now i dont know what they did. .but the only orchids there.. were muts... orchids .. phals that you can get at any box store .. not named no registered name on them at all.... no stag-horns.. the orchid tree with stag-horns. bromliads was gone.. it was empty feeling. there was nothing there. apparently they got a new "manager" well by taking away the rares.. and the neat jungle that was in there.. you killed off what it was.. i went there to look for rare plants i wanted to get a different species of stag-horn. they used to have many!.. and other tropical s that i would keep in my house.. i had not been there since last year. due to time constraints. but sadly its no more. no more wide wide selection of rares that i could not find anywhere else.. unless it changes back.. i wont be coming around.... ill end up having to go mail order what i need.yes they have a wide selection of flowers.. but majority of them.. are standard.. par for the course.. same old same.. and some of the plants.. were not in good condition.

They are very helpful and will go the extra mile.

They have such a variety of plants that you feel like a kid in a candy store. I have never had bad customer service there. I have always been able to ask anyone on the floor for help and they all are very knowledgeable about the flowers and plants they sell there, or know who to ask.

I actually live in South Central Kansas, but I called Heartland Nursery to find out if tulip poplar trees grow well in the Kansas City area. (I won't explain why I was trying to discover this. It is a long story.) Anyway the young lady who answered the phone was very polite and professional. I even put her on hold for a couple of minutes, and she was still on hold and still very pleasant when I got back on the phone with her. I have never purchased plants from this nursery, but if the product is as good as the customer service I received over the phone, then the plants must be excellent.

I love this place because of the variety of flowers, shrubs, trees that they provide. That is why I rated this so high, HOWEVER, if this was based on customer services and prices alone they would probably get closer to a 1.5. Usually the outdoor workers (dealing with the shrubs/trees) are very helpful but the ones inside lack personality and customer service skills. It is just so hard to not love this place when you see all the flowers, it helps mask the lack of customer service.
