General Info

The Kansas City Police Department Crime Laboratory, located in Kansas City, Mo., offers a range of forensic science services. The laboratory is involved in the application of scientific techniques for resolving issues that might result in litigation, either criminal or civil. Its scientific techniques relate to the scientific method of observation, formation of a hypothesis, testing of the hypothesis, and refinement of the hypothesis by processes that can be independently reproduced and verified. The department is involved in the chemical analysis of substances, physical, chemical and microscopic characterization and comparison of materials and typifying serological fluids and biological materials. It is also involved in the identification and testing of firearms and their projectiles, comparison of physical marks produced by various implements, and processing for revealing and collecting fingerprints and other patterns from objects.
