Their customer service is not very responsive. They do not return consumer calls in a timely manner. I called twice on Thursday, September 8th and once again on Monday, September 12, 2016. I have yet to get a call back.

Overall

Our first experience with NuMotion was late in 2013. My husband, Rodney, was in an accident in April of 2013 and had a bilateral AKA. There was some question if insurance was going to pay for the chair or not so I told the NuMotion rep I was talking with that I would just pay and then, hopefully, get reimbursed from insurance. I asked the total amount and was told it was $18,000. In the end insurance did pay the full amount so I didn't have to pay out of pocket. However, we got a bill from NuMotion about an amount we owed them (I forget the total amount but it was about $2000). I called NuMotion and told them our EOB's showed we should pay $0. We went back and forth about this over a period of about a month. NuMotion continued to say we owed them the money and would be turned over to a collections company if it wasn't paid. I called our case worker at our insurance carrier and told her the situation and asked if we did owe them. "NO!" Was her response. Called NuMotion back and was told it was out co-pay but I told her our insurance said it was NOT a co-pay. She looked into it and called back and said it wasn't our co-pay that it was our "out of pocket" (???). I called insurance back and, again, was told to NOT pay it. To end this story in the end I did not pay anything to NuMotion but they billed insurance $23,000 instead of the $18,000 I was told that it cost. Insurance fraud? I CERTAINLY THINK SO!

The motorized chair we had worked great. We got a second, manual, chair from NuMotion that was so underrated for my husband's weight that it wouldn't roll. We called and NuMotion said that couldn't be the case but never came out to look at it. Our youngest son "refurbished" this chair and not it works better, not easy to roll, but better.

Our most recent debacle is this ... We came back from vacation Sunday to a completely dead wheelchair even though it was plugged in. We left a message on Sunday with NuMotion. We didn't receive a call back before lunch and waited until about 3 PM to call back. The greeting on their machine said something along the lines of, "don't leave but one message it'll slow us down so badly we won't ever get around to calling you back". So, I called again and told the operator that I needed a person and NOT a machine. I was told that everyone in repair was so busy they have just not had a chance to return our call. "If the product is inferior enough that the repair department gets so many calls it puts them a whole day behind in returning calls we are going to rethink our next $18,000 wheelchair." Was how I ended the conversation and we did get a call back about 20 minutes later saying we would get a call from a service person the following morning (September 30th, 2014). It's 11:05 on the 30th now and we've received no call yet.

This company seems to have shady accounting practices and definitely leaves MUCH to be desired in the way of service. There will definitely be no repeat $18,000 wheelchair orders from us!
