Starpoint Cafe

Don't let the coupon lure you into going here. I went there for lunch with my daughter last week. First, we had to wait for almost an hour. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and the dish was horrible. The vegetables were not cooked all the way (still crunchy) and the gravy was dried out and sticky, not rich and savory. My daughter was supposed to get mac and cheese with her order, and she had to ask for it before the waitress brought it out. I was supposed to get a salad, but I was so upset about my main course, that I forgot about asking her to bring my side item too.



I indicated that I did not like my selection and they refused to offer me another selection on thier menu. The manager offered a free dessert b/c I did not like my lunch. Then the waitress took away my dish, and there I sat with no lunch while my daughter finished hers. (I've read reviews where service like this happens, I just sat there in disbelief.)



My daughter begged me not to make a scene. When the check came, my entree' was still on the check and I had to use my coupon to get the discount (buy 2 + drinks, get 1 one entree free).



I have had bad service before, but never due to the manager of an establishment. Because this place is a local diner that just opened up, there was no point in complaining further - the manager was probably the owner. And furthermore, the manager didn't seem to be concerned about losing a customer. Which is sad really, because the restaurant was very close to home.



Due to the location, I probably would have dined there often.



So if you find yourself in Gladstone and you're hungry, go to Tommy's down the street (from the Starpoint Cafe) the food is much better and the food / service is 5 stars each and every time.
