Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is characterized by numbness and/or tingling in the thumb and first two fingers of the hand. Pressure is placed on the median nerve from repetitive use of the fingers and hand. Common contributing factors include repetitive gripping and use of the hands with typing or improper ergonomics with computer desk setup.

Ultrasound
Longwood Rehabilitative Services serves the community in two different capacities, physical therapy and wellness. The physical therapy treatment area includes cervical and lumbar traction, electrical stimulation, heat, ice, paraffin, treatment tables for manaual therapy techniques and ultrasound. We also have a full line of rehabilitative exercise equipment, helping our patients recover from all types of injuries, accidents and diseases.
X-Rays
Computed Tomography
Diagnostic tests include x-rays, MRIs and CT scans. A comprehensive physical therapy evaluation will assess posture, range of motion (ROM), strength, flexibility and spinal mobility.

Joint Replacement
The knee is often injured in sports and every day activities; however, degenerative changes of the knee joint due to age and “wear and tear account for pain seen in a wide patient population. Unless a joint replacement is advised by an orthopedic doctor, the best course of treatment is a supervised physical therapy program. If a joint replacement is needed, “prehab” can be performed in order for the patient to gain as much strength and flexiblity as possible before surgery. The patient will also be educated for use of a walker or cane post surgery and how to safely transfer from the car, bed, chair, etc. after surgery.

Sports Medicine
The staff at Longwood Rehab is able to draw on its extensive experience in the Sports Medicine field to evaluate, treat and help prevent sport related injuries. We work closely with our clients from weekend warriors, high school and collegiate athletes to professional athletes including members of the NBA, NFL, MLB, PGA and the USTA.
Physical Therapy
In addition to physical therapy, Longwood Rehab offers a wellness program for those clients wanting to improve and/or maintain a healthy lifestyle. We offer a complete range of aerobic equipment (recumbent and stationary bicycles, treadmills, elliptical trainers and upper body ergometer) as well as a complete line of Body Masters weight training equipment and free weights.
Tennis Elbow
Tennis Elbow is characterized by localized pain on the lateral (outside) aspect of the elbow. Pain increases with gripping activities, and decreased grip strength may be noticed. Tendon inflammation causes pain which is the most common symptom associated with this injury. Common causes include excessive typing, repetitive mouse use on the computer, prolonged gripping activities such as power tool and yard equipment usage, initiation of an exercise program.
