Overall
Skilled but Lacking (In My Opinion)

The Neuroscience Team has many positives- amongst them are the fact that both the neurologist Dr. Kozachuk, neuropsychologist Dr. Newman, and other clinical staff has strong clinical skills and are friendly in-person. However, my experience with them has been very difficult, as I have been unable to obtain my full records from them in months, even though The Neuroscience Team is aware that these records are crucial in me getting the urgent care that I need for a rare condition. When my endocrinologist tried to get in contact with them a month ago, they did not get in contact with him nor let me know why, even with numerous requests from me. I had only asked the endocrinologist contact them, since I had left a message a week prior, and, to this day, I have not received a call from Dr. Kozachuk. Additionally, when I have asked for records, the staff has made it seem as if I am just anxious and that I need to be patient or that I am bothering them, despite the fact that I am on a year of medical leave for a serious condition that neurologist Dr. Kozachuk said cannot be treated until the unknown underlying condition is dealt with first, something that requires hospitalization to test and hinges- again- on these records.

A similar issue is that, in my experience, they do not follow-up with status updates, despite promises to do so. I spoke with Dr. Newman a month ago regarding this point, and he had said that they could have done better on their part. However, I have found myself in the same position and need to potentially start the entire process of testing over elsewhere after 4 months of working with The Neuroscience Team.

If you have some conditions that don't require any real follow-up on their part and are not time-sensitive, then The Neuroscience team might be a good fit (in my opinion). However, if you have greater needs than that- like many clients seeking out a neurologist- then know that you might have an experience similar to mine, where I am sitting in another professional's office being told to advocate for myself, as "the onus is on the professionals" to write appropriate referrals and send out reports.

***update- I called and cancelled my appointment, given the aforementioned issues, and said that I could not continue to invest time or money into them. I asked that they forward my records to another provider. I said that I was done trying to talk to anyone about the situation, and that I would discuss it, at this point, only with outside agencies ( after leaving messages with no call back). Low and behold, a copy of a new letter arrived at my house within 24 hours by mail making it seem like I was a bad client and that they do not know what records I am looking for, even though my husband also witnessed the neurologist's offer for the letter that I have been unable to obtain. Luckily, the other professionals receiving the letter have worked with me for 2-3 years and know that 1) I am a polite and thoughtful client who does not usually make requests nor contact them outside of appointments and 2) that I have been discussing these problems that I had been having with the Neuroscience Team for months, with 2 professionals telling me that they have been "unprofessional" for various reasons. Let me also say that I am a trained professional in a similar field who has seen clients and has an idea about what is and isn't acceptable, whether as a client, clinician, or agency.
