Animal Emergency And Critical Care Center Of Brevard

My cat Skittles got outstanding medical and personal treatment by the entire staff! They are fabulous and I'm not sure how Skittles would have fared without their loving care. First rate people and facility! I'd highly recommend them.

They have been taking care of our pets for both emergency care and specialty doctors. They prolonged the life of our chihuahua for over 5 years. Between neurology, orthopedics, and the cardiac doctor, she lead a happy extended life. They saved the life of our cat when she had a bad reaction to flea medication. The specialty doctors now take care of younger chihuahua that inherited heart problems from her mother. They are more expensive, but we think it is worth it. They have a great relationship with both our family and our pets.

I too have no faith in this veterinary clinic. We took our 2 yr old Chihuahua to them as an emergency patient back on 10/25/2015 because she was having seizures. We were charged over $900 only to be told they couldn't find anything and sent us home with a prescription for phenobarbital for idiopathic epilepsy. Well my furbaby passed away 2 weeks ago due. I hope they spent the money they charged us well and enjoyed it. I for one will never let them treat another one of my pets again

They did not help little chihuahua in any way, they are all about money and do not care about our animals. They took my dog back To their hidden mystery chambers for no more than 15 minutes and were eager to give her back with a clear bill of health for her heart and collect the $450 fee. Everything is done behind close doors and they do not allow the owners to see what they do. My dog had bad legs and I think they may have bent her in a unnatural position for her bad patella that had surgery and had a pin. If they had actually Xrayed her heart.....surely they should have been able to see any other problem she may have had in her little 12" body. She declined and showed distress after leaving them. When Kaytee feels pain she breaths heavy. I had to bring her to the Fl Vet League not even a week after coming to this 24 hour "specialty" clinic for help. She had trouble breathing and had to be placed on oxygen until a diagnosis was found. I don't understand why vets have such a hard time pin pointing problems. It seems like all I ever get is "it may be this or it may be that" and it's always the same "one size fits all" drugs given. The Animal League is not a 24 hour facility, no ones spends the night with animals and oxygen is turned off at closing. I ran around and got oxygen for her that day, just to try and get her from point A to point B. I found a new 24 hour facility that just opened in Vero/ Sebastian. I was alone and could not get help to hook her up to it. The only choice I was given was to put her down. You don't want to see her suffer and no one was helping her breath. I would have done anything to not have to do that. I have no faith in the expertise I have found in this area. I miss my Kaytee and my life will never be the same again.

Doctor and staff were excellent, listened to our concerns and worked with us in the decision making of treatment. They went above and beyond to ensure care for dam and pups when a problem arose during whelping. Price was very reasonable for an ER and we were fully informed ahead of time about procedures and costs. I was so impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone in this facility and I would highly recommend it to anyone that needs emergency or after hours pet care.

I just moved here and my dog got an ear infection and it was a sunday, so I had to go to an emergency hospital. I found the staff super nice and they treated my dog really nicely, gave him meds and the infection cleared up within hours. I found them helpful, professional and friendly. I will go back if I need to.

I drive from Titusville once a week to come here with my dog. They are friendly and offer services I was surprised to find in this area- like a serious hospital. They aren't a city run shelter where everything is free though - I have to pay each time my dog gets a treatment.

Money is thé only reason thèse people are here , they put my yorkie down a year ago and I could have medicated him and taken him home to slowly say Good Bye! Last night my new puppy was sick and they wanted $800 to observe him and $1600 to keep him 24 hours!! That didn't include any X-rays or any real help that was Extra!! I got mad and took her home- next morning she was back to normal! I let them know what I thought of them taking advantage of the situation and I was told he would not talk to me until I was more mature!! ( 60 years old )

DON'T GO!!!

These doctors saved my cat's life. I found him in a parking lot and thought he was close to death. For sure I thought we would have to put him to sleep!! My cat received fluids, medicines and after one day at the hospital was ready to go home. Cannot thanks you guys enough for saving Cheddar's life.

Last night our best friend of over 10 years (our greyhound rescue), Dharma broke her leg running around the front yard and the doctor said that she would probably not survive recovery from a surgery to fix it. It was an unexpected, traumatic, and devastating experience for my family. My mother was hysterical and my baby sister was trying to told it together for the family. Dharma kept trying to stand up and my mother was trying to hold her down so she would not be in any more pain than she already was. My mother yelled "s***" because she was panicked that she couldn't hold Dharma down and WAS ASKED NOT TO BE RUDE. Later, after my mother and sister had waited 30 minutes for the staff to come in and put her down, my sister walked out of the room to see what was going on to which they responded, "Well we were waiting for you guys to make a decision!" With a terrible attitude. They also made sure to remind my terrified and overwhelmed family MULTIPLE times that they had already been there for 2 hours and NEEDED TO MAKE A DECISION QUICKLY. I am appalled and disgusted that during this extremely difficult time, this staff was so cold and heartless. My heart is breaking and my family is grieving. They could have just as easily been UNDERSTANDING of the situation (as they are EXPECTED to be) and made the experience a little less traumatic. We will never take another animal here and am letting all of my friends know that if they want their animals to be treated with love and concern NOT to take them here.

I am sorry to say that my experience was not a good one. I took my 14 year old dog in on a Saturday night to have him checked for a respiratory infection, he has had this 3 times in the last 5 months and it is brought on by a collapsed trachea, well at least that is what my regular vet. has told us. The vet. came in and she was very nice, but wanted to do a couple ex-rays, and I told her assistant whom brought in the paper showing the amount it would be (350.00), that I did not have that in my checking account and did not want to put that on my debit and not be able to cover it.. Well it was then that they told me they would not give me an antibiotic or anything else, they did not know his history and could not access my records at my regular vet., well did they not know this when I walked in and told the lady at the front desk his symptoms.. I paid my 95.00 for the visit and came back home with a very sick puppy. I am sad to see that even in animal medicine it has came down to the all mighty dollar and not in the interest of the patient. I was not asking for anything free, just something to help him until I could get monies transferred and into his regular vet. on Monday.

Always competent staff, always professional and honest about the condition of my pets and the options available. If you are looking for night/weekend/holiday care for your pet at weekday business hour prices - seriously? I have paid what I considered to be very little and what I considered to be holiday prices. But I have always been satisfied. Ensure you run a surplus in your household budget for when emergencies arise. The hospital must charge for their services, do you think they get electricity for free, supplies for free, staff that can work for free? Do you work for free? Of course not, and neither can they. I have needed them twice and they have saved my pet's lives twice when they would not have survived the night/holiday otherwise.

Back in March 2012, our 6 yr. old boxer, Kendra, was bit on her head by a 5 foot eastern diamond back rattle snake. It was on a weekend afternoon and we were 110 miles from our regular vet, which was closed. We took Kendra immediately to AECC where she was taken in. We were told up front about the possible treatment options and how much we could be looking to spend based on the method of treatment we chose. It was costly. They offered us the option of applying for Care Credit (credit card), when they could have said, if you don’t have the money we won’t treat your animal. Thank goodness they did because we needed it. It was our choice to proceed with treatment and we knew the cost. We didn’t expect it to be cheap especially when there are doctors and medical personnel on staff 24/7 caring for our pet.



The level of care that they provide is the highest level of care that I have ever seen. The doctors did not sugar coat anything and they did not give us false hope. They were very straight forward and explained everything they were doing in a way that we could understand. I never once felt that they were trying to take advantage of us knowing we just wanted our dog to get better. In fact my thoughts were the exact opposite. There was, and still is, no doubt in my mind that they did all they could for Kendra. Kendra spent 8 days at AECC in intensive care and I drove up all but one day to see her. Every day I went there I saw staff members that stopped by on their day off just to see how she was doing. All the staff members were very nice and were genuinely concerned for her. Even when I wasn’t there I received calls anytime there was a change in her condition, good or bad. At one point, after several doses of plasma (white blood cells) the doctor called and asked if he could bring in his own dog in to do a direct blood transfusion to Kendra. If that doesn’t show how dedicated they were to helping Kendra I don’t know what does. After 8 long days Kendra was sent home. There was quite a bit of wound care and every time we called AECC with a question, morning, noon or night, there was always someone there.



God forbid the day we ever need another emergency visit like we did that day. But if it does arise, I would drive 110 miles back there to ensure my animals get the best treatment available. Kendra is back to her old self and we owe it all the doctors and medical staff at Animal Emergency Care Clinic. We can’t thank them enough for the extraordinary care they provide.

Our local vet recommended this as a hospital for our very ill dachshund. There is another animal hospital closer to us, but our vet recommended a particular specialist who was new to the clinic and has superlative credentials. We were not disappointed.



Our dog was hospitalized and is continuing to be treated (he is in remission) for a life-threatening ailment. We have been dealing with the vets and technicians for over a month now, and have had only one bad experience with a receptionist/technician being seemingly abrupt and cold. She could have just been having a bad day. ALL the other staff (and since I had to be there every day for many days, I think I have met them all) have been more than a caring pet owner could hope for. They are an incredibly compassionate group, and this is a trait that cannot be faked. What's more, they are extremely talented and well-educated in the field of veterinary medicine. From reading framed degrees in waiting rooms, I have observed that many have come from prestigious veterinary colleges and have received awards in their field.



During our dog's crisis/hospitalization period, we were informed that we could visit him and call at any time of the day or night to check on his progress. If we called and the staff were busy with other animals, they got back to us ASAP.



Dr. Levine is the new specialist there, and we just cannot say enough great things about her. She specializes in four critical systems of cats and dogs. We realize there are many variables that even the best vets cannot control, but within the range of controlled variables, the vets, especially Dr. Levine, seemed right on target. We saw that no treatment/decision was made for our dog without much consideration of consequences. Everything seemed to be carefully weighed out in benefits and deficits. We received direct, honest data about our dog's prognosis, which we greatly appreciated. As it has turned out, Dr. Levine has worked magic with her careful prescription of medications and their subsequent amounts. It is a difficult science to determine the amounts/levels/types of meds to help and even save a dog's life. It's a big responsibility, and Dr. Levine figured out the doses to bring our dog into remission.



Last, I hear how sweetly the technicians and Dr. Levine talk to my dog, even when they don't know I can hear them, and it is quite apparent that the staff loves animals. I don't care how technically competent a staff is, if the intrinsic affection for animals isn't there, I'm not taking my pet to that hospital. My pets can sense that honest affection, too.



All in all, I wholeheartedly endorse this hospital/emergency clinic. We are fortunate to have them here in our small county.

Our 14 year-old Yorkie, Xena, came down with congestive heart faiure while we were on vacation many thousands of miles away. Our regular vet could not provide the 24-hour doctor's care that Xena needed so she transported her to the Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center of Brevard. It did not look like our baby was going to make it. But, after two days of intensive care, constant treatment, and around-the-clock personal attention of the many doctors on staff there, Xena did survive despite many serious complications. She is now just as happy and playful as ever. We are not sure how much time she has left on this planet, but we are extremely grateful for the extra time that the doctors and staff at the Care Center have won for Xena. To all of those that are screaming about price and cost, I can only say that you get what you pay for, and we got our baby back! If you are going to have a pet, then you had better be prepared to do whatever it takes to keep your animal healthy and happy - otherwise, why bother? It's called "responsibility" and it means doing what must be done. Any animal can contract just about any disease or illness known to humans, and then some. Medical care isn't free for humans or animals, but it doesn't make it any-the-less necessary.

My dog, Molly Pop, needed TAA surgery for a torn ACL and my vet recommended this facility and Dr. Christianson. I was so pleased with the doctor and his staff. They were all professional, courteous, informative and showed my dog a lot of patience and love. The follow-up physical therapy they provided really helped Molly heal quicker. The facility is clean and impressive. Brevard County is lucky to have Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center!

I can't say enough good things about Animal Emergency & Critical Care Center. In October 2010, I found my beloved basset hound, Forrest, pretty much unresponsive. I took him immediately to AECC. They ran some tests, and the news wasn't pretty. But he underwent open heart surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, and they saved his life. The road ahead wasn't easy, filled with chemotherapy and specilists, but the veterinarians and staff at AECC were there with us until we finally had to say goodbye. They held our hands every step of the way, answered our frantic calls, and were so understanding. Dr. Christiansen became our super hero! I can honestly say, I've never met another group of more genuinely caring people. You can be assured that you will receive nothing but the best care there, from any and all wonderful people who work there. It's so much more than a fantastic state of the art facility-- it's a team you can count on to be honest and caring at the same time!

The doctors and technicians are excellent. Usually my cat doesn't like being handled by strangers, but she behaves well with the people here. Everyone is clearly concerned with her health and well-being.

I'm very happy to have found this hospital.

The place is really nice, nicer than my doctor's office but they are not there to help your animal, just to make money. A visit is $90! I took my cat in because she needed an emergency tail amputation (caught it in the door and rip the tip clean off). They were open on the weekend and my vet was on vacation and said that it would be easily pron to infection and needed to be removed asap, so I thought they were my only choice. We got there,they shaved her tail, took a look and gave us 2 options: to clean and bandage would be $160 and to do the surgery would be $1,100! That's ridiculous! We went with option one which did not include antibiotics or pain meds. When I asked about pain meds the vet tech said, "she's not in pain, just uncomfortable." My cat was meowing to high heaven and is not a regular talker, and if you had the tip of your tail bone exposed, yeah I think you would be in pain too. I had to wait four days for my vet to return from her vaca and she didn't even charge a quater of what they wanted, including the antibiotics and pain meds. Try the Viera animal hosital on Viera Blvd or Aloha Bird and Animal Hosipital on the beach side of Eau Gallie Blvd, they have treated my pets like family before and come to find out they have weekend hours.
