General Info
In this section I will explain why headlamp lenses degrade over time and describe the method we use to restore them to a like-new condition, Most modern headlamp lenses (within the last 20 years) are made of plastic (polycarbonate) as this allows car manufacturers more flexibility in design and also provides great protection for expensive headlamps. The downside, however, is that headlamp lenses fade over time; even newer cars (~2-3 years old) can start to exhibit opaque/yellow/cloudy,/foggy lenses. The lenses will then not only detract from the overall look of an automobile, but mainly decreases the driver's visibility, especially while driving at night, or under extreme weather conditions. The main reason headlight lenses begin to yellow/cloud/fog/fade is due to their interaction with ultra-violet (UV) radiation, and the heat of the headlight lens itself. There are also other factors that contribute to lens degradation to include exposure to exhaust, extreme temperatures, salt, grime, oil, and acid rain, to say the least. Polycarbonate headlight lenses offer great benefits to its manufacturers as the lens material is light weight, moldable, and cheap, but are costly to replace for the consumer. Manufacturers typically apply a coating to the lens, that when exposed to sunlight and the elements described above for long periods of time, they will eventually occlude as the protective coating starts to degrade. Our method of headlight lens refinishing is to deoxidize your lens covers, wet-sand, polish and seal the top layer of your lens by removing any discolored plastic and expose new a new UV protective clear-coat finish to the lens covers. This service provides ultimate clarity and flawless results that can last indefinitely. Our headlight lens sealer refinishinh process generally takes 30 mins to complete. Typically, the headlight lens covers will remain oxidation free for 6-12 months. In addition, we also offer to apply an additional coating to the surface of your lenses once the finish has completely dried, hardened, or cured. This will increase its durability and produce a higher gloss , also Included within our ONE-THREE YEAR WARRANTY agreement.
