Deseo que si existe verdadera justicia en este pueblo algun dia paguen por el daño irreparable que le han hecho a tanta gente.

I'm a Leon's client and I had a mayor surgery at Mercy Hospital because I was remitted to that hospital by León Medical Center. I was released from the hospital yesterday and I didn't get my pain relieve medicine until 24 hours later. Could you imagine how painful was all this time without a pain reliever? I was asking for my medicine since I get home from the hospital until the next day because I was in great pain but they only gave me all kind of ridiculous excuses. I consider this treatment very cruel and heartless. They also offer me home care and I didn't receive it when I need it the most. This experience was a nightmare with a lot of pain, stress and making a lot of phone calls to Leon requesting my medication when I only should be resting and recuperating from surgery. They really are very unprofessional.

It's sad to know that this place is trusted by so many. My dad loves this place because everyone knows his name and they are all very nice but they really do not care about their patients. My dad is always complaining and ALWAYS goes to De Leon to see his doctor who he really likes. His Doc of course sends him home with a new medication and tells him every thing is fine so of course we believe the doctor and we figure my dad just likes to complain alllll the time and we ignore his pain. 5 months ago he went to urgent care because he was having pain and the doc again sent him home and said take this everything will be fine. he couldn't take the pain so we called the rescued. turns out my dads Hernia was soooo bad even the Docs in the hospital were in shock because it was wrapped around his insides so bad. He had to have emergency surgery and for his age of course he was at risk but he was not having quality of life with so much pain. His surgery was Successful Thank God. The day he was having surgery De Leon called to say all his test came back fine. Imagine, he was in the Hospital getting surgery and they called saying everything was fine. This was 5 months ago, he didn't want to change from De Leon even though we really wanted to. Now my dad has been having breathing problem for a few weeks again complaining everyday. Again, goes to De leon for 100 check ups and they send him home (4 days ago) saying your lungs are fine your breathing is fine. Again , we think " there goes Dad complaining again" Well we took him to emergency 2 days ago cause he really couldn't breath and they took out 1.5 litters of liquid from his lungs and it turns he might have Cancer (advanced). I have no words of how bad we all feel for leaving my father in De LEON. Ignoring his pain, thinking he was just another old person exaggerating. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY FAMILY MEMBERS THERE. THEY GET PAID TO BE NICE BUT NOT TO REALLY HELP THEIR PATIENTS. READ ALL THE REVIEWS PLEASE. THE DOCTORS DO NOT TRULY CARE.... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

If you care about how your fam...

If you care about how your family member is treated, don't take them to Leon. A family member was recently diagnosed with cancer after 2 years of complaints about her pain. She was given drug after drug, but never was given any sort of diagnostic tests. She couldn't keep track of the drugs they gave her and she only got worse. Her sister finally insisted on diagnostic tests and they found the cancer.

She had surgery and luckily (according to Leon), they were able to get all the cancer. Her sister was appalled by the conditions of Palm Springs General Hospital in Hialeah. She paid for a single room. In the three days my family member was there, no one ever changed her sheets. There were no bathing facilities available. The nurses sent to her room were unable to communicate with her, claiming they didn't understand her English.

Now, a week and a half later, she is in horrible pain. She wants to see her doctor tomorrow. I called Leon and explained the situation. I was told to have her come in first thing in the morning through their emergency department. I know what this means as we've done it before. It means my family member and her sister will sit in a waiting room all day and then maybe they'll see a doctor. I explained to the customer service rep that her suggestion was unacceptable, and she needed to find an appointment. This is a woman who just had surgery! The CSR claimed she didn't have access to the doctor's calendar to make the appointment. I expressed my doubts about that. Then, the CSR said to me that my family member had an appointment in December, and that she could move it up a week. Maybe.

As I tried to explain that this was unacceptable treatment towards someone who just had major surgery, the CSR dropped the call. I can't imagine it was an accident.

This Medicare HMO is horrific and I wish I had the money to get my aunt the treatment she deserves. It kills me that although Leon is getting paid by Medicare and they are billing Medicare for drugs she never used, she still isn't getting quality healthcare.

If anyone knows of a quality Medicare HMO, please let me know. I'd get her out of Leon in a heartbeat.

Sinceramente, Julio Gonzalez Jr.

Know The Truth

These clinics although very successful in recent years in increasing their number of members. The truth is it's only a facade, a marketing phenomenon. They're of the philosophy that by catering to the patients with terms of endearment, plasma TV's, lavish fountains and cuban pastries, that the patients will continue coming back. And unfortunately IT WORKS! But while they spend peanuts on these amenities, while simultaneously exploiting their cheap immigrant work force. The bulk of the money they receive from medicare to provide care for our relatives is pocketed by the owners through a typical bait and switch tactic. The physicians in this company receive financial incentives to keep cost down. That means giving purely generic medications to the patients, ordering the least amounts of test as possible to the patients and avoiding hospitalizations at all cost. And our poor elderly mostly non-english speaking relatives, who are vulnerable and gullible are many the real victims in all of this. It's pretty pathetic how they're able to get away with this. You're basically getting a Hilton Hotel appearance and lobby with Motel 6 medical care. I'd like to see them get away with this in the Anglo community. No wonder they've only limited themselves to Miami-Dade County. Wake up people, and wake up Medicare....

Hello to any one out there that needs to go to a Medical Center with an old relative that is sick. Leon Medical Center may be the place where help is available to take care of your older relative disease in an effective and professional manner. I haven't gone to other Medical Centers but I've seen in those plasma TV in Leon Medical Center areas, where they only don't promote their business but also others smaller Medical Centers. These old people usually live alone, they don't have somebody to talk to, they spend must of the day bored at home with no one around them. If they don't have someone who can bring them to "Leon" there is a large fleet of Leon buses to go and take those patients at home and take them back to their house at the proper time for them. Sometimes there is only one old patient waiting for the bus and they will take him or her to their house for free. How they got to this point? With all due respect let me explain it to you. An older relative complained because he went to Macy's Hospital for a test, sent by "Leon Medical Center" and had to wait from 11:00 am to 4:00pm before a Leon bus came to finally pick him off. The next day they changed their ways regarding the bus itineraries. At this point patients waiting too much, they can call Leon Medical Center and ask for a bus and a Leon driver will go quickly to pick him up even if he is only one. Here most of them can speak with another elder who have a similar disease and they can exchange experiences, etc. The one arguing about if inside an Anglo community "Leon Medical Center" could be able to succeed, give me your permission to tell you that right now there are many Cuban and American highly qualified doctors that will find it what's best for a given patient. Then please come back that "Leon" will be more than satisfied to see you again.Really. Sincerely, Julio Gonzalez Jr.

Deceptive service

My grandmother became a member of Leon about 3 years ago. My mom and I have noticed that her health has deteriorated significantly since she entered the program. The Center is constantly calling to make appointments for her to see all manner of specialists, and to deliver all sorts of pills, but my grandmother never seems to know why she is seeing these doctors or why these medications are being prescribed. Since she entered the program, the doctors at Leon discontinued her osteoporosis and blood pressure treatments, claiming that these issues were resolved. My dad is also a member of Leon. He has been diagnosed with prostate issues, which have not been evaluated. Does he have cancer? We don't know, the doctors at Leon keep postponing his tests. And don't even ask about what's going on with his hip problems, they haven't bothered to look into that either.

Service is the name of the game with this company. They keep their elderly clients happy by feeding them sugary treats and cafecitos. They pick them up and deliver them for blind testing. But nothing seems to get done with regards to the patient's health.

My grandmother has not been to see her general practitioner since August because the people at Leon will not schedule an appointment, claiming that they need authorization from their supervisor. Why can't she see her doctor? Shouldn't every American have the right to see a doctor if they choose? Why is Leon dictating whether she can see her doctor? We have been trying to schedule an appointment for weeks and see no result.

Find a better program for your family members. We have been very disappointed.

Hello: I feel sorry for what happened to your grandmother at Leon Medical Center. The employees do their best but they are human as well as you and me and make mistakes. If you have an appointment, they will call you the day before to remind you, in a nice way, that you have to go the next day. The day after your appointment they call you again, this time to ask how were you treated. That's the moment when we are supposed to say how good or bad it was. I like Leon Medical Center but I have complained when I must do it. They have a policy where they encourage you to criticize so they would be able to know what's wrong and fix it. If you don't like to be called at home you can go in person and explain your situation. They will take care of you and they will listen to find a solution. For them there are no problems there are only solutions. Come back and don't think negative, they will find the answer for your Grandmother sickness. But you need to speak to them!they won't bite you! C'mon go back and make sure you are in the right direction, your Grandmother needs assitance; trust them they are very qualified. Just because you were not satisfied once it doesn't mean you have to go away.Calm down and remember you are taking care of your grandmother that's a responsibility they will help you to carry on. Sincerely, Julio Gonzalez Jr.
