In May of 2021, Annie joined our team at Pineview Gynecology. Annie is originally from Somerset, PA and graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Duquesne University in 2014. She moved to Morgantown and worked on the trauma-surgical unit at Ruby Memorial Hospital for 7 years. In 2019 she received her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from West Virginia University with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus. She has worked as a part-time NP at a primary care clinic and as an adjunct nursing instructor for West Virginia Junior College. Annie is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner's Certification Board as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She currently lives in Morgantown with her cat Gilbert and enjoys skiing, kayaking, fishing, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Obstetrics
Dr. Walsh was born in Parkersburg and grew up in Morgantown, WV. She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1984 and then graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from West Virginia University in 1988. Following undergraduate school, she was accepted into the School of Medicine at WVU and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1991. Following medical school, Dr. Walsh completed her OB/GYN residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. After her graduation in 1996, she returned home to begin her OB/GYN career. Dr. Walsh spent time in the university and private setting performing obstetrics and gynecology. She then opened her own solo private gynecology practice on 12/26/2001 called Pineview Gynecology. Having her own practice enables Dr. Walsh to spend quality time with her family while continuing her passion of caring for women throughout their lives. Some of Dr. Walsh's specific interests include the treatment of heavy bleeding, offering various contraceptive options, preventive care for osteoporosis, and evaluation and treatment of abnormal pap smears. Dr. Walsh offers in office procedures such as endometrial ablations to treat heavy periods and office Hysteroscopy.

Brooke graduated from West Virginia University in 2010 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and she worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery at WVU Medicine for 6 years. She returned to WVU where she completed her Master of Science in Nursing, in 2013 and also has experience working as a nurse practitioner in Pediatric Neurosurgery. Brooke is a Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, who has always had a passion for women's health. Brooke joined Pineview Gynecology in October 2016.

Ultrasound
Sonohysterography is a valuable new technique for examining the endometrial cavity. It involves instilling a small amount of normal saline into the endometrial cavity with a flexible catheter while simultaneously visualizing the endometrial surface and its thickness with transvaginal ultrasound. It is being used routinely worldwide at low risk to the patient. The procedure takes only minutes to perform and is done as part of a regularly scheduled office visit.

When women in their twenties and early thirties above abnormal uterine bleeding the cause is almost always "hormone imbalance." Such women in the past were often offered hormonal therapies most commonly in the form of low-dose birth control pills. But as women get into their later thirties and forties concerns about endometrial abnormalities such as polyps, fibroids, precancerous and cancerous lesions increase. Therefore, for the last fifty years, women of such age with abnormal bleeding have been diagnosed with D&C's, hysteroscopies, endometrial biopsies, and other invasive procedures to exclude serious abnormalities. They have then been left with a diagnosis of "hormone imbalance." During the past few years sonohysterography (SIS) has often been used as a less traumatic yet equally accurate office-based alternative.
