As a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Trevisani deals with the diagnosis and surgical treatment of injuries, diseases, and defects of the mouth, face, and jaw. This includes the removal of impacted or decayed teeth, biopsy and removal of cysts and tumors in the mouth and jaw, treatment of facial traumas, and jaw surgery. He is also an expert in wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, bridges, crowns, dentures, and much more. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that replace missing teeth. An implant is composed of a titanium post that is placed in the jawbone. An artificial restoration (e.g., a crown or bridge) is then affixed to the top of the implant post to recreate the look and feel of a natural tooth. Implants blend in beautifully with surrounding natural teeth.
Bridges
Certain circumstances necessitate the extraction of a tooth — for example, decay, infection, or trauma that has damaged the tooth beyond repair. If you find yourself needing a tooth extraction, rest assured that Dr. Trevisani will expertly handle your case. He and his knowledgeable staff will patiently answer all of your questions and address any anxiety that you feel about the tooth extraction procedure. Restorative Dentistry
If Dr. Trevisani is replacing a single tooth with a dental implant, he will customize a dental crown. Dental crowns look exactly like natural teeth in their size, shape and color. Crafted from porcelain or metal materials, crowns are normally used in restorative dentistry cases where a tooth is structurally unsound and needs support. In these types of cases, the crown slips over the surface of the remaining tooth.

Dentures
In a normal, healthy mouth, bone called the alveolar ridge surrounds the tooth sockets, holding the teeth in place. But the loss or extraction of a tooth can cause the alveolar ridge to break or deteriorate. Other conditions such as periodontal disease or ill-fitting dentures can also cause the bone to deteriorate. Unable to heal on its own, this type of bone loss limits the options available for replacing the tooth.

Oral Surgery
I have been an Oral Surgery Assistant for 10 years, the majority of the time assisting Dr. Trevisani I have been working here for 8 years. You can find me in all of our locations, wherever the Doctor needs me. Outside of work I love sports and spending quality time with my son.
Jaw Surgery
Reconstructive jaw surgery: individuals sometimes have problems with jaw alignment that affect their ability to chew properly. Oral surgeons are trained to diagnose these issues and recommend surgical intervention. This not only helps with jaw alignment for speaking and chewing but reshapes your face so it appears more symmetrical.
Maxillofacial Surgery
I have spent 15 years in the medical field, 12 of them in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with Dr. Trevisani I am the Primary Surgical Assistant in the Apopka Office. To prepare for the medical field I attended Career Training Institute for Medical Assisting and High Tech Institute for Medical Massage Therapy. My hobbies include volunteering in church, spending time with my family/friends, and going to the beach as often as time allows.
Tooth Extractions
Sometimes a tooth is so badly broken or decayed that it cannot be rehabilitated and must be removed. Ridge Augmentation
Ridge augmentation is usually performed in the dental office with local anesthesia. Sedative medications can also be administered to keep patients completely comfortable during the procedure.
Bone Grafting
To begin, a small incision is made to expose the upper jawbone. An opening is created in the jawbone, and the membrane that lines the sinus is gently pushed up and away from the bone. A bone grafting material is placed in the space where the sinus previously was. The incision is then closed.

Orthodontics
Corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, addresses misalignment of the jaws and teeth, as well as other skeletal and dental irregularities that prevent normal chewing, speaking and breathing. During corrective jaw surgery, Dr. Trevisani may reposition all or part of the upper jaw, lower jaw and chin. The surgery may be combined with the use of orthodontics to correct the bite. Braces
Treating a facial bone fracture is similar to treating a fracture of the leg or arm bone. The parts of the bone should be lined up and held in position long enough to heal (could be six or more weeks, depending on the case). However, an arm or leg fracture involves wearing a cast to stabilize the bones, whereas a facial fracture — like a jawbone fracture — usually involves wearing metal braces, wires and/or bands that hold the jaws together until the fracture has healed. Or, if the patient has few or no teeth, special dentures or splints may be constructed to align and secure the fracture.
