Utlimate Electronics no longer services what they sold. I've been a customer of SoundTrack AKA Ultimate Electronics since 1987. I bought everything from my first CD player there to my high end Sony DCR-VX-2000. In all, about 8 different higher priced electronics. Today (3-13-10) I took my vx2000 ($3,000 camera) in for repair at Ultimate in Interlocken. They said, unless I purchased an extended warranty, they no longer take in items for service purchased at their stores. The only reason I shop at brick and mortar stores is for the comfort of having local customer service available. I find it unbelievable that during a recession where stores are struggling, Ultimate Electronics has chosen a path of LESS customer service. I can safely say, I will never purchase anything at Ultimate again. Incidently, I was taking the camera in and was going to browse their camera department for my next video camera. I was going to upgrade after I transferred my mini-DV tapes to a long term format. Now that I know the customer service I can expect for such purchases, I will buy my new camera somewhere like BH photo online. We left the store immediately with no intention of shopping around.
