Emergency Care
When you get emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, you are protected from balance billing. In these cases, you shouldn’t be charged more than your plan’s copayments, coinsurance and/or deductible.

Glaucoma
Our Surgery Center also has the latest technology for glaucoma including the Micro Pulse P3 Glaucoma laser. This laser is a newly patented device for earlier treatment of glaucoma with a kinder, gentler approach and improved safety. We are constantly involved in researching new technology as well as medication and procedures to provide the safest and most effective treatment for our patients.
Ophthalmology
Our Surgeons Deer Creek Surgery Center has seven surgeons on staff. These Doctors are continually involved with research trials, innovative surgical procedures and new medications to provide patients with the safest and most comprehensive eye treatments. Our doctors have been selected by their peers as “Best Doctors in America” and various other prestigious awards throughout the years. They serve on various boards and hold elected positions in ophthalmology societies. They are active lecturers at medical meetings, have published numerous articles, and are sought out for their opinions on medical treatments and trials because of their expertise.
Laser Eye Surgery
Deer Creek Surgery Center was built to be a center of excellence for eye surgery. Our physicians and staff strive to provide every one of our patients with exceptional care.
Cataracts
Dr. Joseph Tauber’s practice, Tauber Eye Center, is located near the Country Club Plaza. Dr. Tauber performs cataract surgery, laser vision correction, yag laser treatments and is recognized as a leader in the Kansas City area for advanced corneal transplants and ocular surface disease. He is the Medical Director of Saving Sight, one of the largest eye banks in the U.S., which provides donor corneas to surgeons worldwide.
Cataract Surgery
Deer Creek Surgery Center is equipped with two operating rooms, two post-operative suites and several rooms dedicated to specialty laser treatments. We are proud to be providing technologically advanced equipment such as the Alcon LenSx femtosecond laser. This laser provides automation of the most challenging steps during cataract surgery and enables the surgeon to create precise incisions using the VERION Image-guided system. This high-definition imaging technology allows the surgeons to see a detailed image of the eye, real-time, during surgery. This enhances precision and efficiency in cataract refractive surgery to optimize your surgical outcome.

Radiology
When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers can bill you is your plan’s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can’t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed.
