Pediatric Care
Dr. Tran, an Overland Park native, completed medical school at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine and returns from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis after completing her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and her fellowship training in Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Primary Care
Many of our patients are referred by their family doctor, pediatrician or by other medical specialists. However, physician referrals are not required. Since the practice is limited to allergy, asthma and related diseases, it is essential that the patient have a primary care physician for general medical needs.
Flu Shots
When available, beginning Tuesday, September 8th, we will be administering flu shots during in-office appointments, call ahead allergy shot injections, and during the following call ahead/flu shot times.
Immunizations
There is no clear cure for asthma; however, there are a variety of treatments and medications that are useful to control the disease. It has been estimated that between five and eight percent of the population in the United States has asthma or an asthma-like problem. In most patients, asthma symptoms seem to develop following viral upper respiratory infections. Reducing the number of these infections is possible through hygiene control with measures such as washing hands frequently, avoiding contact with sick children, and avoiding sharing food or drink. Yearly influenza immunizations are almost always recommended. In many situations, asthma cannot be prevented from occurring. Reducing the number of infections reduces the frequency and severity of the asthma. Avoidance of tobacco smoke, both personally and passively, is vital in reducing asthma symptoms.

Internal Medicine
Dr. Passer is a graduate of the University of Kansas College of Medicine. She completed three years of postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine at Emory University and a two-year fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at St. Louis University.

X-Rays
Computed Tomography
At the initial visit, a patient may expect to give a thorough medical history and a nurse will perform a physical examination. Please make sure that you bring along the completed questionnaire included in the packet received by mail, fax or off the website. Please bring copies of reports of any previous allergy evaluation, pulmonary function testing, recent sinus or chest X-rays / CT scans and lab studies for review. Also, please bring along all of your current medications. Please be familiar with previous medications that you have taken for your conditions.

Allergies
The most important aspect is treating any underlying nasal disease such as nasal allergies which makes one more susceptible to sinusitis. The best way to diagnose allergies is by getting an evaluation by an Allergist Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Treatment of allergic disease with avoidance, medicines and immunotherapy (allergy shots) can reduce the frequency of sinus infections.
