Established in 1960, the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust was one of the first equity REITs in the United States. It has a primary investment focus on retail shopping malls and power centers located in the eastern United States. PREIT s portfolio consists of more than 50 properties in nearly 15 states. This includes nearly 40 shopping malls, more than 10 strip and power centers and one office building. The company s properties are located in Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust maintains its corporate headquarters in Philadelphia.
