Feel the Rush!!!

General Info
It all started back in 1985 when Del Amo Motorsports was founded on Aviation Blvd in Redondo Beach, CA. This was a store that was only 6,000 square feet! Suzuki was the only brand of motorcycles we carried, but with our success, we were able to expand. From 1987 to 2002, we were able to add Kawasaki, Yamaha, Sea-Doo, and Ducati to our growing family. By 2002, we had to move- we had outgrown our building. We moved to our current location, 2500 Marine Ave in Redondo Beach, CA, which was a 25,000 sq ft building. In 2002, KTM was added to our dealership, then Can-Am in 2008. In 2002 we expanded our store to 35,000 sq feet, and in 2010 we again expanded to an astonishing 45,000 feet! Back in 2007, we decided to expand locations, and we acquired an entirely new location in Long Beach, CA. We did a massive renovation to the entire store, creating what is now Del Amo Motorsports of Long Beach. Over the years, we have gone from a single-line franchise to one of the largest dealerships in the nation. We have you, our customers, to thank for our awesome journey.

Overall

It's August 2014: reading the other reviews, I have to assume that a lot has changed at Del Amo Motorsports Redondo Beach.

We had a completely perfect experience here. I found the bike that I wanted (Suzuki 1250s) and Yesenia and Jason H. were able to get it at the price I wanted.

My wife was skeptical about driving up all the way to Redondo Beach from central Orange county, but Jason in Finance was able to get her the financing deal she wanted to make this happen.

Isaias the tech was very thorough and walked my son and I through everything about the bike, and made sure we knew how to access everything.

The only slight negative is they did not have the helmet I wanted to get, in white in stock (had it in black though.) Not a big deal: I can make do with what I have.

We did purchase the extended warranty. Bumper to bumper for another two years, and being able to take it to any Suzuki shop in my area is a big plus. Maybe others don't think that it is worth it, but my wife likes the peace of mind.

Overall
Bummed by a last minute hard sale!

I was looking for a good deal and worked with several nice salesmen.

I found three dirt bikes for myself and my kids, at a good, but NOT a great price.

I was actually very excited by the fact that the salesmen weren’t heavy handed and there was SOME room for negotiation.

Then came the finance department (cashier) and the extended warranty push.

Despite three NOs! I was tag teamed by a second finance person who explained he has known several customers who whished they had purchased the extended warranty prior to their motorcycle imploding shortly after leaving their showroom.

Then they broke out a binder with service record for some idiot who rode his bike without oil. Surprise his engine seized and the service cost was over 1k.

GREAT displeasure is an understatement, as I couldn’t get these warranty-pushers to give up. This 10-minute ordeal undermined my confidence in their inventory.

(Dealer prep-AKA mechanic inspection, etc was between $400-$700 you'd think that would provide some level of quality)

Watch the slight-of-hand pricing by the finance/cashier person.

BTW when I got home the “new” Yamaha 50’s throttle was assembled incorrectly and got stuck. (I fixed it without a warranty.) And my 250's battery was unable to start the motor. (Again fixed without the extended warranty)

Admittedly, this was something of an impulse buy. I should have walked away, and I am unlikely to purchase any future toys without checking out other dealers. Be informed, expect dealer prices and watch your back.

Three years ago I bought two street bikes from Bert’s. That was a better experience due to the lack of heavy-handed sales tactics.

The good guys in sales: Bob (I didn’t get the last name) and Justin Muldrow.

Very nice apparel salesperson: Michelle (Her card doesn't have a last name) Michelle was great getting my kids setup with helmets, gloves, etc...

Overall
Can't Belive your tire prices!!

I have been riding for 20 plus years and have owned over 20 bikes with lot of miles under my belt. That means I purchased lots of tires over the years. I am very price driven when it comes to tires and do my home work, I was suprised and impressed with Del Amo's prices for the tire and install price but most important they had me in and ot of there in an hour. Even some of the big name mail order places could not touch the price. Impressive!! I know where I am going to get my next set of tires for my ST1300 when due. Thanks for the great job on my 1098 in and out quick, great price. Only one probelm. WATCH out for that showroom while you are waiting!! That money I saved went to a new set of Alpinestar boots while waiting. Thanks for your great personal service G and Julie!!

Overall
I acutally enjoyed my experience!!!

I like many others, I’ve read a lot of dissatisfied testimony online about Del Amo Motorsports, however I was looking for a specific motorcycle and had deposits EVERYWHERE for the bike, I was looking for a KTM 300XCW, probably one of the hardest motorcycles to find in California, I was a bit worried to be honest when Del Amo was the first dealer to get one in their inventory. Since there seems to be such bitter reviews online, however I also know that people tend to vent bad experiences WAY before anybody says anything good, so I gave them a chance.

I told them what I was looking to spend, and what I needed with it. Bill at Del Amo (the salesperson I spoke to) is a KTM rider himself and he could relate to my dilemma. He told me what I was going to be up against, and made me feel as if I had a personal representative at the shop. We set an appointment, and I came in. I was expecting some negotiation, and there was some, but I worked out a price that fit my budget. Bill introduced me to Julie in the apparel department but she didn’t have everything I was looking for, but she got the boots ordered. It took about two weeks, but I got them and they were the right ones! :-)

I also met Roy in the parts department and bought a skid plate, which was actually in stock. I even got a discount! When I met the finance people they were courteous and informative, I bought a year warranty because this bike has only a 30 day warranty, and it was done! The bike was mine after MONTHS of waiting for it.

The service department was INCREDIBLY tidy and clean, Del Amo obviously spends a lot of money and energy in there because the service area is actually cleaner than my own house! Colin, Pat, and Fernando are great people to work with (I had a lot of questions) lol . When my walkthrough was finished, Bill and Colin helped me load the bike into the truck.

I’ve already referred two of my friends to Del Amo and Bill. Glad to see a big shop with such personalized service!
