Teeth Cleaning

Fillings
Veneers
Veneer preparation involves the removal of a small amount of tooth structure. An impression is taken & sent to the lab to fabricate the custom veneers. During this time your Dentist may place temporary veneers on your teeth. Temporary Veneers are made of either acrylic or composite material. They are very fragile and are attached to the underlying tooth structure with temporary cement and can be easily dislodged.
Crowns
Do not chew sticky foods such as caramel or chewing gum. When flossing, pull the floss out the side; do not pop it through the contact with the tooth next to it. You will not be able to floss between the teeth of your temporary bridge. If your temporary bridge /crown comes off, you can place some Fixodent (available at any pharmacy) inside it and put it back on, then call our office during normal business hours and we will re-cement it Do not leave your temporary off, even if you have no discomfort. If you feel the bite is not correctly balanced, please call for an appointment for a simple adjustment. Without a temporary bridge to hold your teeth in place, your teeth can move causing your new bridge not to fit.
Bridges
Crowns and Bridges are usually completed in two appointments. Following anesthesia the teeth are prepared for a permanent bridge/crown and an impression is taken. This impression is very important. Your dentist may have to take more than one impression. It dictates the precision of your permanent bridge or crown. Then a temporary bridge/ crown are placed on the teeth for protection. The size, shape, and color of the temporary do not resemble the final restoration. A temporary bridge/crown is easily removed; therefore care must be taken not to dislodge it before your permanent bridge/crown is placed.
Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
It is a field of dentistry that treats the root canal system. When decay extends to the pulp or the nerve inside the tooth, the person almost always experiences spontaneous throbbing pain. The pain increases at night and is aggravated with cold & sweet foods. The Dentist relieves the pain and pressure symptoms by treating the root canal system which houses the tooth nerve or pulp.

Deep Cleaning
If you require more than just a regular cleaning your Dentist /Hygienist may prescribe a deep cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing).It is usually done in sections. One half of the mouth is cleaned in one session & you will have to come back for the other half. First the teeth & the gums are anaesthetized then the teeth are cleaned using a combination of ultrasonic & hand instruments. It is normal to experience cold & hot sensitivity after the appointment. Your teeth may even be sensitive to chewing.

Dental Implants
When we lose a tooth several changes occur that profoundly affect the surrounding teeth and bones. The neighboring and opposing teeth drift toward the space of tooth loss. This causes uneven distribution of chewing force that is no longer along the long axis of the involved teeth. Also there is food lodgment causing decay of the teeth and gums. All these changes can be prevented from timely replacement of the lost tooth either by implants or by bridges.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Tooth Extractions
After tooth extraction, it’s important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That’s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. You may have to do this several times. If bleeding still persists, biting on a moist tea bag wrapped in gauze may help control the oozing from the surgical site. Tea has an ingredient that promotes blood clotting.
Bone Grafting
In addition to the above instructions, it is important to remember a few additional points if you have received a graft within the socket site after we removed your tooth.

Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the study and treatment of improper bites and crooked teeth, which may be a result of tooth irregularity or improper natural tooth alignment, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. We use functional appliances and braces to move teeth into the desired positions. Patients with severe crowding and spacing could have a good smile with straight teeth. It also helps them to chew better and avoid joint pains. For comprehensive orthodontic treatment, most commonly, metal wires are inserted into orthodontic brackets which can be made from stainless steel or a more aesthetic ceramic material. After a course of active orthodontic treatment, patients will typically wear retainers, which maintain the teeth in their improved positions while surrounding bone reforms around them. The retainers are generally worn full-time for a short period, perhaps six months to a year, then part-time (typically, nightly during sleep) for as long as the orthodontist recommends. It is possible for the teeth to stay aligned without regular retainer wear. However, in some cases teeth can crowd as a person ages, whether or not the individual ever experienced orthodontic treatment. For this reason, many orthodontists prescribe part-time retainer wear for many years after orthodontic treatment.
