Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
Although often thought to not be susceptible to heartworm infection, cats can indeed get heartworms. Cats can suffer from a syndrome referred to as heartworm-associated respiratory disease (HARD); the symptoms can be subtle and may mimic those of asthma or allergic bronchitis. Signs of respiratory distress, such as rapid or difficult breathing, wheezing, and panting, are common. Other symptoms include coughing, vomiting (typically unrelated to eating), and loss of appetite or weight. Heartworm infection is more difficult to diagnose in cats than it is in dogs.

Parvovirus Infection Treatment
Schedule your puppy for his or her first exam as soon as possible. Until your puppy has received a series of vaccines, he or she is susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We will make sure your new dog is protected against rabies, distemper, and parvovirus, among other diseases. Your puppy will also need to be tested and treated for parasites, which are extremely common in young dogs.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
Schedule your kitten for his or her first exam as soon as possible. Until your kitten has received a series of vaccines, he or she is susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We will make sure your new pet is protected against rabies and panleukopenia (distemper). Depending on your cat’s risk, we may also advise vaccinating him or her against other diseases, such as feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). In addition, your kitten will need to be tested and treated for parasites, which are common in young cats. Now might also be a good time to consider pet insurance.

Arthritis Treatment
There are two cruciate ligaments within the stifle [knee] joint which act in opposite directions to each other to counteract shearing forces between the Femur [thigh bone] and Tibia [shin bone]. When damage occurs to these ligaments, it is almost always the cranial ligament that is affected (in purple below). The ligament can be torn by straining / twisting of the ligament during exertional exercise, but more commonly in the bigger breeds the ligament is gradually torn over a period of time – causing either continuous or intermittent lameness. It is now widely accepted that this is a ‘disease’ of the ligament rather than simple trauma. Unfortunately, once the ligament is damaged the gradual process of osteoarthritis [degenerative joint disease] will begin. Surgical treatment is designed to relieve as much pain and lameness as possible and reduce the onset and severity of arthritis.

These parasites aren’t just a nuisance; they can cause serious—and sometimes deadly—diseases, including Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, and tick paralysis. Periodontal Disease Treatment
Did you know dental disease is the most common infectious disease in dogs and cats? In fact over 68% of all pets over the age of three, and 80% over the age of four, have some form of periodontal or dental disease. Most pets show few signs of dental disease. The most obvious is bad breath. The most common cause of dental disease in dogs and cats is due to tartar and calculus accumulation. Tartar is easily identified by its tan or brown color. It normally starts at the gum edge, especially on the back teeth called the premolars and molars. This accumulation of tartar and bacteria on the teeth surfaces lead to infection and gingivitis or inflammation of the gums. Left untreated, this will progress to irreversible periodontal disease, which results in pain and eventual tooth loss. Infection around the tooth causes bacteria to spread through the body via the bloodstream and may damage the kidneys, liver and heart, thereby shortening your pet’s life. Once tartar has formed it will be necessary to remove it by professional scaling and polishing under anesthesia.

Dental Radiology
Tooth scaling will be performed using both hand scalers and ultrasonic cleaning equipment to remove tartar both above and below the gum line. The tartar beneath the gum line causes the most significant gum disease. The teeth are then polished in order to help prevent subsequent plaque build-up. It may be necessary to carry out other procedures such as dental x-rays and extractions at the same time. The procedure is completed with an application of fluoride to strengthen your pet’s enamel. Keeping your pet’s teeth and gums clean and healthy has been proven to extend your pet’s life by 3-5 years!
Microchipping
Microchips are tiny computer chips, about the size of a grain of rice. A microchip has a unique identification number stored on it. The microchip is usually inserted under the skin between the shoulders, and feels about the same as getting a vaccine. When your pet gets microchipped, the number of his or her chip is registered. Then, if your pet should get lost and taken to an animal shelter, the people at the animal shelter can scan the microchip, call the registry, and find you! Even if your pet loses his or her collar, you have the benefit of knowing your pet can always be identified by that microchip!
