P.S. 55Q, The Maure School is an elementary school that serves students in prekindergarten through grade six. Its teachers use a variety of approaches to assist the children in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, technology integration, physical education, visual art, music and media studies programs. The school also offers reading, early intervention, English as a Second Language, and gifted and talented programs. P.S. 55Q, The Maure School s extracurricular activities feature a chorus and tennis club. The school additionally publishes a monthly magazine that offers information on campus activities. Located in Jamaica, N.Y., P.S. 55Q, The Maure School has more than 50 teachers and is managed by The New York City Department of Education.
