Teeth Cleaning
Tooth whitening is most successful when done shortly after having your teeth professionally cleaned. Many things we eat and drink can stain out teeth such as: tea, coffee, and tobacco products. In addition, calculus (also known as tartar) buildup can cover the teeth and reduce the effectiveness of bleaching. A dental cleaning removes surface stains and calculus and provides a “clean slate” for the bleaching agents.

Sealants are used to fill in narrow grooves in a tooth that cannot be adequately cleaned by brushing. These grooves are susceptible to cavities even in people with good oral hygiene. These grooves will develop cavities over time. To place a sealant, a coating is added to the tooth that seals the grooves and pits, sealing these areas from cavities.

Bonding involves adhering tooth colored composite resin material to the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the teeth, close gaps between the teeth, or for other cosmetic purposes. First, any decay is removed from the surface of the tooth. Next, the tooth is micro etched and a prime/bond agent is applied which allows the material to adhere to the tooth. Then, the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with an intense light. Finally, the composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a lustrous smooth finish.

Crowns
It takes two appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. In the first any decay is removed from the tooth, and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating the crown. A temporary crown is worn until the second appointment which is usually in two weeks. At the second appointment the permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place.
Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. A bridge uses the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth as support teeth, hence the name bridge. They are fabricated from the same materials as crowns. They can be made to look very natural.
Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) can become necessary when a tooth has is history of large cavities, multiple restorations, or trauma. These things can damage the nerve inside the tooth beyond the body’s ability to heal itself. During a root canal the infected pulpal tissues are removed, the area disinfected, and the area filled. In most cases after root canal treatment a tooth will need a full coverage crown to restore and strengthen it.

Deep Cleaning
The gums, ligaments, and bone around the teeth form the foundation for ones teeth. These structures are referred to as the periodontium. When the peridontium is not healthy, it jeopardizes the teeth just as a bad foundation would threaten the stability of a house. Signs of unhealthy periodontium (gum disease) may be as follows: gums that are red and bleed easily, persistent bad breath, gums that are pulling away from the teeth, loose teeth, and changes in the position or bite of the teeth. Any of these signs may mean something is wrong. With proper care, however, it may be possible to return them to a healthy state. Non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease involves scaling and root plaining. This is often referred to as a “deep cleaning”. If gum disease gets too severe it may need to be treated through surgery or extraction. Left untreated periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss.

Dentures
Dental implants replace missing teeth. An implant is a small titanium post that is surgically implanted into the bone. The bone grows around the implant and forms a tight connection. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, a replacement tooth is attached to it. Implants can be made to look just like natural teeth. In addition to single tooth replacement, implants can be used as support as part of an implant bridge or an implant retained denture. Implants can restore your ability to enjoy eating again.
