ARF is very very difficult to work with. I took my father to see a dog listed for adoption & they fell in love with each other. My Dad could really use the companionship of this sweet little dog as the love of his life, my mother died 4 months ago. They denied his application because he hasn't had a pet or subsequent vet records in the recent past. Now they won't let me adopt the dog either because I didn't have one of my pets spayed until recently. I don't know how they actually save any animals since they are sooo difficult and exacting.

It is very frustrating dealing with this organization. I had heard that the Animal Rescue Foundation was hard to deal with when attempting to adopt a new family pet. But I was sure that their tales of past dealings were untrue, but a vast they are not. We wanted to adopt a rescue animal and make him her a part of our loving family. We didn't know that this organization needed to be able to find out our full past /current pet medical history. We offered a warm and loving home and we take VERY good care of our animals. Apparently the current social state will not allow them to trust people in providing good homes for animals that otherwise would have none and may have to be destroyed. We didn't want to track down and present to them all of our medical records of our pets so that they can judge us to be fit pet owners or not. I thought willingness to adopt an animal that needs help be more important than making an new owner present themselves before you to be judged as fit or unfit.

Not best of...a very hard group to deal with.

Although this group has a "no kill" policy...beware!!! They have euthanized several of their rescued animals. They also tell you it's on a first come, first serve basis...it is not. Whomever "they" take a liking to is who gets the animal. You can be the first, but they still make the decision and even if you are approved by vets and references, they won't let you have the animal if they don't like you. Very hard and sometimes cruel and disrespectful group to work with. They have constant turnovers in they group of volunteers because of lack of respect and good policies within their organization.
