Our staff of 26 ophthalmologists care for over 150,000 patients each year with all categories of eye disorders and visual system diseases. Dr. Ansari's research interests include the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. Dr. Ansari is involved with numerous clinical trials which give him and his patients access to the latest and most sophisticated glaucoma treatments, including treatments that are not yet widely available. Ophthalmology
Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston is a leading referral center for advanced eye care, providing patients with a wide range of access to highly skilled ophthalmologists and convenient locations. For more than 50 years, our physicians have been dedicated to providing exceptional eye care. OCB was founded in Boston in 1969 by three ophthalmologists, and became the first private multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in the country. In 2021, OCB affiiated with Eye Health Services, which was founded in 1971 with just five ophthalmologists and three offices. Both OCB and EHS have flourished into the area’s premier eye care practices and now work together as one team. OCB ophthalmologists offer the very latest diagnostic technologies that enable doctors to detect subtle changes in the eye, allowing for earlier detection of eye conditions and therefore earlier intervention if needed. Macular Degeneration
Our ophthalmologists are fellowship trained and recognized regionally and nationally as experts. They are authors of text books, medical journal articles, and are frequently presenting at both national and international meetings delivering scientific papers about their clinical experience and results of their clinical research. Many are actively involved leaders in research advancing medical and surgical care of a wide range of eye conditions. OCB is a leading clinical trial center for such conditions as macular degeneration and keratoconus among others.
Laser Eye Surgery
Dr. Rapoza is a recognized authority in the field of corneal and cataract surgery, refractive surgery and the medical and surgical treatment of the cornea. His research interests include radial and astigmatic keratotomy, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), LASIK, corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. He has conducted numerous clinical trials studying pharmaceutical agents to treat corneal transplant rejection, inflammation in cataract surgery, dry eye and ocular infections.
Cataracts
Dr. Raizman's research interests include treatments for conditions that affect the cornea. A primary focus of his is corneal collagen crosslinking, a groundbreaking therapy for patients diagnosed with keratoconus. He also investigates new less invasive alternative procedures to cornea transplant, novel surgical devices in cataract surgery, and treatments for Fuchs' Dystrophy. Dr. Shah's research interests cover a myriad of retinal conditions, including macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment. He has published peer-reviewed journals and serves as the Deputy Editor of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's ONE Network, a platform that educates 30,000 ophthalmologists worldwide. He is also Editor of the Clinical Trials section of Retina Times and a co-editor of the Wills Eye Five Minute Consult.
